I know some on here disregard what ESPN says, but it is also mentioned on ESPN and they say that the "Newest Big Ten team could land him".

Paywalled Scout info (not from GBW) has an article that says he just finished making his second trip to Nebraska.  So my guess is he ends up there.  Plus, I would have to think with Peat just visiting, Diamond high on us, and Kalis visiting this weekend, our staff would slow down on some of the other guys like Olson, Bars, Thurston, right?

I...really don't think Thurston is the kind of player you turn away. To whit, I believe he is a consensus 4-star player, very highly esteemed by virtually all the gurus. You don't say no to that because there are some slightly bigger fish still lurking in the pond.

The only reason I could possibly see them backing off for is if they're concerned about ratio of tackles to guards since most of the guys we're in on are tackles right now. And I'm just throwing that out there for argument's sake, I don't even agree with it.

As you said, Thurston is a consensus 4-star, top 150 to Rivals and Scout and top 250 to 247. Not a kid you're going to turn away. Hoping he goes blue but I think Nebraska's the likely destination.

I think they've been aware of the OG/OT ratio all along. Either the talent is simply better at OT right now, or they simply feel more comfortable with our depth at guard than tackle.

Thurston is a loss, sad to say, although I wish him well in his new corn-filled home. Seemed like a good kid.

It's been said multiple times that they like Thurston and Bars just as much as some of the other guys. And they would take their commit if given.  Thurston is a 4* with a good offer sheet they would not turn him down.  Especially when Peat is a Long shot and Kalis is taking multiple visits

Why people think we are positive on winning diamonds services but why garnett? Did I miss something because it seems like everyone is assuming we get him?

I would say, and I can't believe I am saying it, we lead right now for Kalis and Diamond. That leaves one spot available for Peat, Banner, Garnett, Barr, and Olson. The first 3 are realistic but far from a lock. Basically we will have a hat on the table.

I would be curious to see a weekly update from Tom VH on who he thinks is going take the 3 remaining OL slots and why?  Things around the remaining OL slots seem to be spinning faster than the Tilt-A-Whirl at the local fair...

Yeah....shame on Rich Eisen, Adam Schefter, Desmond Howard, Brian Griese, and even 60 Minutes own Mike Wallace...for thinking they can attend U of M and then be journalists later. Shame on them.

I wouldn't mind not getting Thurston if we can get Peat.  Here is a posting on ChatSports

"Rumor: After his visit to Ann Arbor this week, 2012 Tempe, Ariz., five-star offensive tackle Andrus Peat is quietly listing Michigan as his favorite. He headed to Notre Dame after the Michigan visit and his tweets after both were quiet different. Expect Peat to pledge to Michigan prior to the beginning of his senior season. Follow Peat on Twitter here: @AndrusPeat"

I don't know how credible the source is, but here is the website I got it from that was posted by someone on "Michigan's Football Recruiting" page.

But, I am not an expert on deciding who is and is not credible.  I was hoping that someone would know who the author is and let the rest of us know if he is credible.  You are probably right though, but it is very exciting to read statements like this and have it possibly be true.
