Some of the other items on sale from this seller:
1993 North Carolina Championship Ring - $15,993.93
1976 Indiana Championship Ring - $32,019.76
Green Bay Willie Wood HOF Ring - a cool $2,500,000 (or best offer)
I don't know. How about Taco Cabeza? Half the deals I've ever done went down at Taco Cabeza. Nice and public. Open 24 hours. Nobody ever gets shot at Taco Cabeza.
I save all my high 5 figure transactions for Craigslist.
Seriously though, handling something like this on ebay is borderline insane.
It is certainly cool but 90K? I'm a huge fan but that is dumb.
Hopefully Rumeal's mom gets some of that $$$.
TP is selling a ring and that's BAD and nefarious and tatgate and OSU cheats and we need posts to discuss it!
But if Robinson is also selling a ring... is Michigan now bad by association???
1. Robinson is not currently playing Bball for Michigan.
2. Unfortunately, Robinson, post UM, has been a disaster.
There was an article last year about Rumeal watching Michigan in the Final Four from prison.
I forgot TP still plays for OSU.
...is that TP traded his ring when he was at OSU.
I got that. Just adding flare, if you will.
TP gonna raid the league as a raider.
Then yeah, it would reflect badly on Michigan.
But I doubt either TP or RR are selling the rings. It's way past that now.
Disaster is being kind. Robinson is scum of the earth.
I'm in no way excusing his actions but I'll save scum of the earth for people like child traffickers and dictators who use chemical weapons on their own citizens.
How about this: child traffickers and chemical weapons-using dictators are Division 1A Scum of the Earth.
Rumeal is Division III Scum of the Earth.
Rumeal's problems aside, it's always best to invoke MVictors' rules on ring auctions:
a) we don’t know if any of what the sellers claims is true, b) we don’t know the circumstances of how the ring ended up with the seller and c) don’t assume anything and d) don’t judge.
Nothwithstanding his well documented personal issues his hitting both ends of a 1-1 with the freaking National Championship on the line might be THE most clutch thing I've ever seen an college athlete pull off. That was performing under the type of pressure few of us will ever get close to experiencing.
And watching it live on TV was the most nervous I've ever been viewing a sporting event waiting for something to happen. Robinson WAS not good at Free Throws that year (blew I think the Wisconsin game earlier in the year in the same situation) so I fully expected him to miss. And he didnt!
Only 90,000? Izzo should buy it and put it around his pitt bulls neck on a chain.
That is the most nervous I remember ever being watching a sporting event. I still get nervous watching replays of the game.
I used to play in a few rec basketball leagues and every now and then would be in a position where I needed to hit a free throw to ice the game/push into overtime/etc. In those instances that had absolutely zero importance, I was happy when I hit the rim. I can't imagine having the national title on the line. Completely clutch.
His post-basketball life has been the opposite of clutch.
