Weird camera angle. Is the interviewer 4 foot tall? Ruddock has that smug, confident attitude that the best QBs have, and I mean that in a good way. He also has a Chris Osgood type vibe/look about him.

I've never seen Shane scared in an interview... he is usually a bit cocky and confident like you want your QB to be, if anything Rudock probably seems more reserved and quiet in his interview but he certainly seems like he knows what he's doing, and has proven it on the field. I do hope the competition is good and if Morris does start, Rudock's going to be a great backup who can push him and keep cool.
I seriously doubt that Shane will win the job. Harbaugh wants a consistent QB who is accurate and does not make mistakes. They are equally as mobile.
No I agree, on paper it is very unlikely. But who knows. My point is, Rudock is going to be a great addition to the team even if he doesn't start.
So, since accuracy is as much about timing with receivers as anything else, if Morris has gained that by having 6 months to work on it, he might be the better choice, right?

Rudock talked about it being weird, now being at a school he played against.
Here's his every snap from the game in 2013.
He came back strong after that ill advised first pass and some early mistakes. He can look very good at times, and bad at others. I like how he throws on the run at different arm angles, and he has good pocket awareness.
Harbaugh will make him better.
He's solid. He steps into his passes really well, but has a long windup to do it. Our D got to him a few times and just missed him a few more. He needs an extra half-second of OL pass protection that I hope we are going to be able to provide, or it won't be pretty.
As I watched this, I could not help but scout Michigan. How bad must our O have been? The D played very well and even scored. I'm watching the score and I see Iowa giving the ball back to us on third down after third down . . . and then when Iowa got the ball back the score hadn't changed. Our O did nothing. We should have won by 2 TDs..
I feel bad for the D and especially Jake Ryan who was everywhere.

Regardless of if it was last year, or the year before. the dude clearly stated that he has barely watched Michigan Football since 2012, which if recall correctly... Was the last time we were winning! Anyway, before calling me a "hypocrite" you should've known that I was at the game in Iowa City that day.

I'm just curious. All the games Hoke lost in 2012 (outside of Alabama), were pretty close games. A close loss to ND (undefeated until NCG), the South Carolina Game probably would have been a win if the DB (forget who) hadn't been suspended. Nebraska was a QB depth issue that was quickly solved. The last half against OSU was annoying, but it was still a close game.
I'm just suprised that anyone was ready to move on that quickly after 2011 and then 2012. I would never defend the 2013 and 2014 seasons though.
not in a "gave up on the team" sort of way, hell I'll watch DVR'd games where we get our asses kicked because im, well a huge fan.
But enthusiam waxes and wanes depending on how you see your team developing . . .
I never liked Brady Hoke as Michigan's coach. Great person, yadda yadda, but he always seemed like some palooka off the street that was playing way over his head on game days.
Not only couldn't i tell you a game coach Hoke "won" for us, due to his in-game coaching, but he seemed often a liability on game days rather than an asset.
We played a couple good games and squeaked a couple more out but it was pretty clear by the South Carolina bowl game that everything in the future was going to have to rely on QB's performing above expectations and recruiting stars panning out like they did at other schools.
Alabama . . . manhandled.
ND was overrated and it was pretty obvious. We scord 6 points and lost.
We bested mighty Air Force by 6.
MSU was last second heroics after being outplayed . . 2 pt win.
Nebraska without Denard . . .pathetic.
NW, decent game, but need OT to win at home.
1/2 a good game at OSU.
2012 was the year we led at halftime for 1/2 of our games and then made 0 adjustments for the second half, usually leading to no points and either let teams hang around or beat us.
That was on the coaches.
At least we practiced well.

that's the way i see it as well. Shane didn't earn it so now out of default it's Rudock's job to lose. Which he won't ... he's steady. Not a great play maker but will win a lot of games with the men around him.

No way, not until he's done something to earn it. Shane was number one on the depth chart after the spring game, and - like it or not - he'll be there when camp opens.
Shane's got the arm strength, but there's only 1 QB on this roster who has looked like a Big Ten starter up till now
It is nobodys job to lose. No one has done anything here to deserve that statement.

The thing that stands out to me about Rudock is his consistency.
I've seen Morris make better throws and he has appears to have more upside than Rudock, but I just can't see Morris doing it 25 times in a row like Rudock can. Not at the present time at least.
That's what kept stopping the O last year . . . they made some good plays, but they could not make a dozen in row. If they had to make a long multi-play drive down the field, something usually fell apart before they got to the end zone.
Given where we are now, and with the D we have, I'll be happy with consistency, even if it is only B-level and not A-level consistency.
I didn't pick up anything of the sort, at all.
I was neutral to Rudock in this interview. Maybe he's going to be the guy maybe not. Maybe Shane will be the guy maybe not. Clearly one the team's QBs will come to be the guy for better or worse, but at this point none of us has any real idea of who will ultimately be that guy.
Frankly I could not care less about who lands the starting QB job as long as the team makes progress all season and demonstrates the ability to win.
It is Harbaugh's responsibility to put the best guy at QB and I have confidence in his judgement.
I am sort of in the same place - under a vastly different coaching staff than the one that preceded it, I really don't want to invest myself or really even guess at who will be out there against Utah, especially when we haven't even seen anything come out of August (and of course, we've got some time before even that). Actually, I would rather sit back and see what develops - part of the best way, in my mind, to get a handle on what will ultimately be is to not have a specific wish for starters at any position.
