RR at Miami

Submitted by Motown20 on

If RR is let go, my hope for him is that he is hired at Miami.  He does so well with recruiting now, can you imagine what he would do "in state".  Then people wouldn't be able to complain about his recruiting any longer.  He might even get Dee to join.  How ironic would that be?

Technically, wouldn't this be considered OT?  The OP does somewhat mention Michigan football, but the focus of the thread is really a hypothetical about Rodriguez coaching at Miami.  Interesting gray area . . .

Ohio State would especially love it since they play at Miami next year and his hiring guarantees them another easy blowout victory against a team with the initials "UM"

Miami is not going to wait till January to hire a new coach. Kind of a long time to wait for someone who may or may not be fired. Rumor has it they will hire a coach by next week.

January isn't that long.  Odoms, DRob, and a bunch of other guys who haven't RSed would certainly be interested.  Throw in the pipeline he already has in Florida and take that away from Michigan and our class might just fall apart.  It seems as if there is already a crack hopefully it doesn't get much worse.

No offense to the OP but this was a dumb post. I will think about RR at Miami (YTM) if / when he is fired from Michigan. He is our coach until something changes and I personally hope nothing changes.

I have a feeling wherever rich rod goes next, assuming he doesn't stay here, he will come back to haunt Michigan. I think he could kill it down there in Florida.

Arrhhg... This is going to be a grueling offseason.

If Michigan fires Rodriguez, the university will be cursed so that everywhere you go on campus, you will hear "You Lift Me Up," playing oh-so-faintly in the background, and no-one will ever be able to discover the source.

Perhaps the haunting has already begun.  I think I hear it even now . . .

The OP is a clear cut instance of someone who supports the coach rather than the school. I'm undecided at the moment between RR and (theoretically) JH, which is why I'd be a terrible AD, but one thing I am sure about is that I'm not on board with the logic of supporting RR even at the expense of the University (in this case, making us look like fools for firing him if he is instantly successful at Miami).

1.  Nothing is clear cut

2.  I support RR because he is Michigan's coach.  I support the current players on this team who bust their ass everyday trying to please people they shouldn't even worry about pleasing.  I really don't care about the other nonsense that goes with it.

3.  Are rumors, speculation and hypotheticals no longer part of this blog?  If so, I missed the memo.

I vote we bring in whats-his-name, make a serious financial offer to D Hart and move forward. We have done a pretty good job of making ourselves look like fools. Of course, one nice thing about JH - he doesn't have an accent, because we are awfully tolerant in A2, don't you know.

It would be best thing for DR. He probably wanted to qb for Miami, but wasn't recruited at that position. So now he could play close to home, after transferring and after their other qb graduates next year. RR would be able to plug him right into his offense again for two more years.
