Roster: Depth Chart & Position Changes
I know it is early, but I would like to hear some oppinions. I was just playing NCAA Football 11 in dynasty mode (Using Michigan of course, but under SDSU playbook.) I'm starting Stephon Hopkins at runningback, and I personally think he would be a great option for starting runningback next year because of the power he would bring to the spot. Any thoughts? What other postition changes might we see in the roster with the CC?

Please when referring to Michigan don't use the word we, it really doesn't help your cover and it sickens me a little bit that you might actually be a fan.

this kid kinda sucks.

Yea, because we were competing with OSU and for NCs every year with RR, amirite?
Hoke recruited Tom Brady out of California. Plus, his staff is likely to be a mixture of guys who can recruit across the nation. I'm betting that if we get Teryl Austin and/or Chuck Heater and/or Loeffler that we won't have too much trouble recruiting in Florida.

You do realize that the reason he even went to SDSU was because he recruited the west coast, right?

We'll see how this unfolds, but I'm not convinced that "the little guys" will be out of place in Hoke's offense. His last year at SDSU came on the back a 5-10, 175lb running back (who won MWC freshman of the year).
In fact, his top 3 rushers this year are 5-10/175, 5-9/175, and 5-9/185. Perhaps he wanted a big back and couldn't get one, but it seems that he's open to using smaller players.

That kind of back can't be successful in the Big Ten.

Mike Cox strikes me as the obvious beneficiary of this change. He was always reputed to be the most talented back on the team, but he struggled with the mental side of the spread option offense. I suspect that I-formation "downhill" running will likely suit his strengths while masking his weaknesses.

I think the mental side also has a lot to do with blocking. If he can't figure that out, he won't start regardless. That said, he does seem like the most explosive runner on the team after Denard.

a new system doesn't slow him down for another couple years.

He fumbled and he wasn't great at the zone runs. Less zone running and better fundamentals = more play time for Mike Cox.
January 12th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
because he always came in cold, perhaps unprepared mentally or trying to do too much to earn more PT. Either way, if he does too much of it he'll grab pine. He is an exciting athlete, though.

His problem must have been fumbling in practice, because he hardly ever saw the field, period.

I, for one, would love to see more Cox.
Also, I think Smith will be deadly as a third down back where his great blocking and pass catching skills can be used. Anything would be better than seeing him repeatedly run into a wall and tackled after a yard or two.

....actually quite suprised he didn't play more, particularily in the bowl game, or kind of game but really only a game for the first quarter.

i don't care who it is, but can we get a kicker?
January 12th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
Was rumored to be changing to TE even under the old regime. I would expect that to be solidified by the Hoke staff.
January 12th, 2011 at 6:30 PM ^
Hoke needs to turn off the computer's ability to offer scholarships. I don't want a goddamn 3 star JUCO B- speed WR!
Even if he is 6'3''

Defensive ranking. -1,000,000 to at least 40-50th.

I am kind of excited to see how mike cox does with a new coaching staff. He seems like the kind of player that couldnt get out of RR dog house for whatever reason. Whenever i have seen him play in spring games he reminds me of a poor mans adrian peterson.
