Rosenberg writes good column in support of keeping the game last.

This, while not nearly as good as Brian's, nonetheless makes a strong case and uses similar rationale Brian offered for keeping the game as is. last game if the regular season. One thing I like about the approach Brian and this column took, is that the easy overview is "sentiment on one side, money and practicality on the other." That is entirely untrue as we know.

Hate to agree with Rosenberg, but in this case, he is right.  My fear is that the decision has already been made. In Columbus, there is a lot of noise coming from the fan base about changing the date. Maybe it is time the powers that be listened to the fans for a change.

OSU fans, Michigan fans, Brian and the FREEP united, Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Uh, the link you posted explicitly states the Freep links will automatically be directed to the print page:

All links to the Free Press are now automatically directed to their print page.

And the comments have posters trying it out.  Which makes me think it's working in the comments, but not when starting an MGoBoard thread.  For a test, I'll copy the URL from the OP here and see if it automatically updates to the print link like it did in the comments in the meta post:

EDIT: So that doesn't work either.  I guess the automatic redirect isn't working anymore.

...if he could have pissed in our collective cornflakes I am sure he would have...he's just writing a cloying piece that will play to the tradition soaked masses (and conveniently hits home with us on the board)

once again, I submit, the hell with Rosenberg and his crap assed paper

Oh Jesus fucking Christ. Sometimes I wonder why I stop reading this board for 6 months at a time and then we get a piece of shit thread like this. YEAH BROTHER, FREEP JIHAD FOREVER! USE ROSENBERG ARTICLES AS TOILET PAPER LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!1!!!11!!!! Here's the thing... it's a very good article in a very large newspaper supporting our cause. That can never be bad. Hate Rosenberg all you like, but by coming out against this he is spreading the word to a lot of people (ie. old folks who don't know what the hell an "M Go Blog" is) who might otherwise never know about. As for the suggestion that this is just a "cloying piece that will play to the tradition soaked masses", I must disagree. Anyone who has read Rosenberg's book on the rivalry (I'm sure all of you missed out on it because ZOMGZOMGZOMG FREEP JIHAD!), you'd know he spent three years on the thing and during that time he came to have a new found love for the Game. He says as much in the acknowledgments. Look, Drew Sharp is a smart dude. He knows that by being a total jackass about every team in town, he can get you to remember his name and read his column just to grumble about it. Rosenberg has clearly tried to take a page from that book. But Sharp would have never written this piece... in fact, he wrote the opposite. This piece could have only come from someone who clearly knows and cares about what they're discussing.

If the Freep will endorse our cause, we should suspend our anti-Freep campaign for the time being.  The enemy of our enemy, etc.
