Rosenberg off Michigan stories

Anyone else notice that Rosenberg no longer writes stories on Michigan football? It's been all Sharp and Snyder. I think they have realized that after the initial boost in site hits, the backlash is going to cost them and they are trying to mitigate MRage by removing him from Michigan coverage.

Don't remember if His Lameness was covering MSU football last season or not. But Snyder definitely had a more intelligent tone to his quotes and comments in his stories on Sunday. A far cry from "why are you getting emotional?" at the August 31st presser. Or the "bold prediction" of WMU - 31, Michigan - 28."

He will be back if there is anything negative. Sharp was/is the master of this. He would slam Michigan after a loss. After a win, however, he would write about the Lions. FWIW - Snyder was very invovled in the article. I also recommend a Free Press-free lifestyle. I have boycotted it since the article and, frankly, have not missed it at all. (Yes, I do live in metro-Detroit.) The TV channels in town have web sites for local news, weather, etc. Real news can be found elsewhere. Your Michigan fix is, of couse, MGoBlog.

I'm afraid I'm one of the guilty people who is roped in by the train wreck. For now, I can't stop checking to see if they have slung any more mud or had any other pathetic attempts to defend themselves. After this all blows over I hope I can stop checking, but for now I just can't resist. Forgive me fellow mgoboarders, I have sinned.

Admitting a problem is the first step. Now, go ahead and just ignore the Freep. I, for one, will not negbang you for admitting your Freep problem. Just do me this favor - don't go there for the next 48 hours. Instead, come to MGoBlog each time you would have gone to the Freep. I predict that you will soon join the rest of us living Free Press-free.

Mark Snyder has been, for many seasons, the Freep's U-M football and basketball beat writer. He remains on the beat. Michael Rosenberg is a columnist that writes about all sorts of sports of interest to the Freep's readership. In the fall, typically once or twice a week, at minimum, that is college football, but can also be the NFL, the Tigers, should they be in playoff contention, or any number of other sports. The Freep sports section technically has three columnists - Rosenberg, Sharp and Albom (though, other reporters often write "columns" to indicate an opinion piece, at times - but Albom hardly writes anymore, so Rosenberg and Sharp write more frequently. Rosenberg is not the U-M columnist. Neither is Sharp. Rosenberg often writes about MSU just as Sharp often writes about Michigan. I wouldn't read much in to one week. If Roenberg doesn't write another column on Michigan football for the rest of the season, then that would be out of the ordinary for the Freep. "Rosenberg off Michigan stories," even with a question mark to end the sentence, isn't something we could possibly observe at this time.

So when are you going to put up another OP? Where were you for the game? Any feedback? I'd like to hear about Grady the younger. Like to hear about team unity. Like to hear what the team was told by the coaches after the Rosenfiasco, and how they're pulling in the wagons. What does the team do, if anything, about former sour grapes players who've gone elsewhere? Just ignore them? Have the freshmen received any special instructions regarding interactions with the media? Anything you can tell us about this coming Saturday? Any more on walk-ons & depth charts, scholarships, pt? Do you have any more info for us on Ricardo Miller?

Rosenberg's most recent column is about the Detroit Lions, but I'm pretty sure his first sentence is taking a shot at the Michigan article and its backlash: "As we all know, journalists are supposed to blindly support the people they cover." Classy.

I sent an email using the journalist perspectives that were posted last week as my basis of my email to all of the sports editors, sports columnists, Synder and all of the managing editors of the Freep. I did not call them names or threaten their children or invoke the name of God - but I got no response - not surprised.
