As an alumnus from New York, I never thought to read anything in the Freep ever, and obtained all my Michigan related sports news while living in Ann Arbor from...you guessed it...mgoblog and the board.  I read War As They Knew It and thoroughly enjoyed it.  This was the summer before the Freep article was written.  And now after having read Three and Out, I despise this man.

My question is what is the general consensus about War as They Knew It around here?  Did you enjoy it and find it entertaining/informative as it gave an interesting perspective about the era?  Or could you not enjoy it given the author?

Your father wouldn't want to hear this, Sonny.  This is business, not personal.

In a little known adaption of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” Rosenberg and Guildensnyder are devious courtiers who are sent to spy on the small “Hamlet” of Ann Arbor, using their claimed friendship with the city to gain its confidence.  They serve as spies for the corrupt King Columbus,  who usurped the hamlet’s throne through cheating.

Columbus recruits Rosenberg and Guildensnyder to escort the Hamlet’s representatives to Indianapolis, Denmark, where they are to be condemned to the death penalty at the hands of the NCAA.  However, the order backfires.  The corruption of Columbus is exposed; Columbus ends up hearing the death knell of the NCAA; Guildensnyder sees his career die with the bankruptcy of his publisher; and Rosenberg is exiled to a distant land called CNNSI, where he spends the rest of his natural life toiling for his bosses, making hamburgers (which he calls "rosenbergers").

There is a real trench-war going on right now, between The Ohio State University and ESPN/SI.  Lawsuits, FOIAs, lawsuits about FOIAs, personal attacks, public recriminations, etc.

How ugly could it get, if Rosenberg is made the point man in SI's Big Ten football coverage, and he turns his charms on OSU?

I'd be on the Buckeyes' side in a New York minute.
