maybe he just wants to keep things close to home and play ACC ball - or maybe he realized this train wrecks not improving any time soon especially under poppa hoke.  considering um for this long in their current / recent state is commendable.  but most big time DL prospects want to be tutored for pros and get after QBs in college on way to the draft - and thats obviously not happening much lately at um.  gotta do whats best for him

It's going to happen with the current situation. It's inevitable. I'm just looking forward to watching tonight's game because we get a finite amount of Michigan football every year, and good or bad I enjoy rooting for this team.

he's decommits from a school that is a traditional football power (albeit going through some down years) and academically elite institution and commits to a school that is traditionally crappy at fooball (and who just got destroyed by Clemson 41-0) and very average academically.

Yeah, that  makes sense.

But it's an individual choice and good luck to him.

Maybe he wants to stay close to home?

Also, take a look at this team right now? Why in the hell would any kid with any kind of talent want to come to Michigan right now? At least strictly on the football side of things. Hoke has proven time and time again that he can't develop talent.

how to read?

Let me repeat:

"But it's an individual's choice.  Good luck to him."

A student or athlete's choice of schools is extremely complicated and a personal choice.

I was just accurately noting the comparative traditional strengths of the two institutions with regards to football and academics, arguably at or near the top of reasons why a student-athlete football player chooses a school.

Michigan will continue to be superior to NC State academically.  And despite recent troubles, Michigan's traditional football-power status gives it a signficant advantage over the NC States of the football world.

And if you can't see why "any kid with any kind of talent would want to come to Michigan right now," I could give you plenty of reasons.

Their HC is a lot better than Hoke.  He had two monster seasons at NIU, is young, energetic, has a fun offense and is in the early stages of turning around NC State.  Yes they got destroyed by Clemson but Roseboro was at the game NC State was up 28-7 on FSU and played them very close to the end.  UM cant even play Utah close.  That is in year 2 of that coach's regime.  How the hell did UM look versus Alabama in year 2?  No different than NC State vs Clemson.

This Michigan arrogance needs to stop.  Most kids who are 16-17 are relying on their dad's to tell them UM was good.  I bet NC State has the same record overall from 2009-2014.  And NC State sucks.

Right now the best thing UM is offering football players is academics.  NFL development is laughable and the team is 1-9 versus the last TEN Power 5 conference teams.

NC St. played well against FSU and got destroyed by Clemson.  They beat Georgia Southern by 1 and and ODU by 12 and went 3-9 last year.

The only evidence of a turnaround is the first half against FSU.

NC St. beat FSU the year before he arrived and won 8 and 9 games the two previous years.

Put it this way if Michigan hires a Dave Doeren level coach the reaction will not be positive.

Michigan fans are arrogant because they went to the best public university in the United States.  They are all excellent in their chosen profession.  I expect the AD and head coach to be held to the same standard.

Does NC State really have a better coach?  Did their coach win a BCS game?

Good luck to him.  Getting worked up about recruiting at this point seems pretty irrelevant given the coaching situation.  I fully expect if Hoke comes back some of these kids will come back, others are lost.  But with a new coach, who knows.
