Rose Bowl Open Thread

The Granddaddy of them all! The 100th Rose Bowl. Number 4 Michigan State vs. Number 5 Stanford. Who are you guys taking in this game and why? I like Stanford so I wouldn't mind to see them win. I do think the perception of the Big Ten is somewhat important, but I also don't think the Big Ten being that great matters a whole lot. I'm cheering for neither team though. I am just hoping for a good quality game.

The line favors Stanford by 5.5 points. Michigan State has the best defense in the country. Stanford has one of the best ground and pound teams in the country.

F/+ Projection: Stanford 20, Michigan State 11
Win Probability: Stanford 73%

  Michigan St Stanford
Actual Score 0 0
Most Likely 13 17
Median 13 17
Mean 14.63 19.37
Win Probability 36% 64%

I flew home to L.A. this morning through Chicago. Bunch of Sparties were on the plane who had been delayed overnight and were just going to make it to the Rose Bowl for kickoff. Flying back to Michigan tomorrow. I'm happy for the bastards.

Still think they're all on steroids.

My god.  In two years we saw a zero loss OSU, 1 loss ND, 1 loss OSU, and 1 loss sparty.

All while Michigan is almost painfully impossible to watch.

If not for tattoos the national championship game last year would have been a joke - ND v OSU.

But your greater point is there - OSU ND and MSU were all top 5 type of teams sometime in the past 14 months.  Those are our 3 rivals.  It is a low point for decades for UM football in relation to where UM is to all 3 rivals. SIgh

One coach this season attempted to throw over the top against MSU and take advantage of their scheme, and big surprise, it worked.

I hope OSU wins too...if Michigan is gonna be shit and our rivals are gonna be good. The conference may as well win. Just put me out of my misery.

Gotta give em credit. They're at the point where recruiting numbers don't really matter anymore, they just continue to plod along in crushing fashion. See: Boise State, Virginia Tech. They'll come down to earth eventually, but they might ride this one for a while.

Crazy that this team that struggled with WMU and USF is going to end the season ranked in the top 3
