Rose Bowl Open Thread

The Granddaddy of them all! The 100th Rose Bowl. Number 4 Michigan State vs. Number 5 Stanford. Who are you guys taking in this game and why? I like Stanford so I wouldn't mind to see them win. I do think the perception of the Big Ten is somewhat important, but I also don't think the Big Ten being that great matters a whole lot. I'm cheering for neither team though. I am just hoping for a good quality game.

The line favors Stanford by 5.5 points. Michigan State has the best defense in the country. Stanford has one of the best ground and pound teams in the country.

F/+ Projection: Stanford 20, Michigan State 11
Win Probability: Stanford 73%

  Michigan St Stanford
Actual Score 0 0
Most Likely 13 17
Median 13 17
Mean 14.63 19.37
Win Probability 36% 64%

LOL what a fitting end.  Can't run up the middle all game, so you do it when the game is on the line.

If you were in Pasadena 16 years ago and someone told you 16 years later Michigan State would finish the season 13-1 and Michigan 7-6, what would you have said?

Congrats Michigan State.

Man, after seeing the differences in how OSU could run the ball and how Stanford ran the ball I sure am glad that Stanford is the prototype program we're striving to become.... *sarcasm*

just think their kids are stronger/ tougher than the oponent or that they don't have the courage to be creative? A PA pass there stands a great chance, because attacking the middle of the MSU D, when they expect it is a terrible call.

Oddly, this makes me feel better because David Shaw, who most people think is an amazing coach decided to run right at the MSU D two times in a row. It's like he never even watched footage of MSU. This makes me feel better about Borges' dumb-ass calls.

You will have to deal with the Hoke apologist who will say “The line is young” (despite having 2 NFL linemen) and also “Give him time”. All the excuses in the world while, our rivals and others are getting the most out of their 3 start talent..
