If he just found out today that the guy recruiting him to UCLA is bolting for the NFL, then this is not him being flakey. This is him reacting to UCLA being rather shady in his recruitment.
At least he found out before his LOI was signed.

For one, Georgia owes UCLA nothing and, two, if you changed the source of the tip it would be looked at as soon someone a solid.
February 4th, 2015 at 6:31 PM ^
anyone thinks GEORGIA is being shady. I think people are saying UCLA was being shady by hiding from him the fact that their DC was on his way out of town.

the only subject in your post was Georgia, you didn't even mention UCLA once. Therefore I don't think it is a stretch for someone to assume that you're talking about Georgia and not UCLA. I'm just saying; making fun of someone for comprehension problems when you wrote an ambiguous post is pretty "shady" if you ask me.

His primary recruiter and coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, is reportedly leaving for the NFL. That's a decent excuse for hesitation.
Edit: Beaten, two times!

Sorry, im still kind of new here. Is this one of those fake accounts that goes around saying dumb things simply for the purpose of trolling everyone?

A commenter on the 247 Georgia board said that the UCLA defensive coordinator may be taking a new job with the Falcons but did not disclose that to Smith.
Of course, the Georgia board thinks Roquan is there for the 'Dawgs taking.
If someone knows more, please elaborate/confirm/correct.

According to collegefootballtalk.com, UCLA's DC is going to the Falcons.
Does anyone know if or how many spots UGA has left?
February 4th, 2015 at 5:15 PM ^
Sounds to me like Roquan Smith REALLY doesn't want to go to UGA. Instead of switching from UCLA, he's now considering TAMU and MICH again.

If we don't get a transfer (at 14, thought 16 was the # for 2015).
A&M has 25 signings already. I _think_ they will have 69 juniors, sophomore, RS and frosh on their roster, excluding early exits, injuries, etc.
Sounds like they fit right into the SEC?

AKA Michigan (NTM)
February 4th, 2015 at 7:31 PM ^
...or something, Michigan University is what Tressel is now calling us. Something about that's how Woody did it.
This direspect is obviously infuriating and only stokes the rivalry.
February 4th, 2015 at 5:41 PM ^
We had 6 spots going into today and filled 5. This is with assumptions both Glasgows and Kerridge get schollies.
I dont know A&Ms numbers nor do I think it matters how many "openings" they have. In the South and OSU they sign what they want and then attrition happens after the fact. As long as they get down to 85 by the necessary timeline what happens between now and then doesnt seem to matter much.

I bet we lose a couple players after spring game.

Come on over to "Michigan University" Roquan. Our staff is not full of DBs and what has UGA really done over the last few years - oh yeah, they gave us Stafford, thanks....
February 4th, 2015 at 5:31 PM ^
We definitely have 2 DBs on our staff. Both of them safeties.
February 4th, 2015 at 5:22 PM ^
I like Michael Gray's statement, but is he reputable? I haven't seen his name before. I guess, from his twitter account, he is a UGA reporter.
February 4th, 2015 at 6:45 PM ^
but he is a UGA grad and currently works at Fox Sports South as a "communications and social media coordinator"

Our coach won't leave for the NFL.
February 4th, 2015 at 5:27 PM ^
I saw earlier before he made his declaration that there were some people on 247 changing their pick for him to Texas A&M which really kinda surprised me considering they werent really in the running down to the wire it seemed. I also agree with the reporters tweet above a Georgia kid who waited till the end and still didnt pick Georgia just seems like he was being kind and keeping the home team in it till the end so he didnt have to deal with the backlash of all the fans so close to home.

This gif implies that anyone but UCLA are culpable for this. Smith is the lucky one who didn't send in his LOI right away. What is everyone else supposed to do?
February 4th, 2015 at 7:14 PM ^
I am sure it is probably just an updating issue but.......on the UCLA 247 site there are a number of recruits listed as "Hard commits" but no LOI sent in yet.....on that list is Smith as well as one K-L-S..........................................................
I'm not sayin'...I'm just dreamin'
February 4th, 2015 at 5:29 PM ^
for Michigan that I can remember. At the end of the day though, I think Harbaugh and staff did a decent job of filling up the class in a short period of time. I look forward to the 2016 class when they have the benefit of a full year to recruit and more openings.
February 4th, 2015 at 5:34 PM ^
That is SO messed up.
This is what Coach Ulbrich said, according to Smith:
"Yes, he did confirm that with us that he did have an offer. He was very candid and honest. He just hated that it broke on social media before he had the chance to call."
That last part strikes me as complete garbage. Before he had a chance to call? All the while UCLA was pressuring him to sign. When would he have had an opportunity to call? AFTER Smith was already committed?
February 4th, 2015 at 6:34 PM ^
"Hey thanks for signing your LOI"! Oh by the way, I just quit to take a job with the Falcons. Good Luck in Westwood. C YA BYE."
