rooting interest BCS bid

Submitted by river-z on

Ok everybody, part of the post-game celebration here is the prospect of a BCS bid!  we're gonna needs some teams ahead of us to get beat and it looks pretty likely, though most of it is going to get worked out next week.

South Carolina (12) plays Clemson (17) today -- Go Clemson?

Oklahoma (9) plays Oklahoma State (4) next week -- Go OkSU

Georgia (13) plays LSU (1) next week -- go LSU (argh)

Sparty (14) plays Wisky (16) next week (or so it appears by the half time score in Madison)      -- go Wisky

I suppose there could be some other games that could fall our way, but they would be pretty big upsets.  I think our chances look pretty good for a BCS bowl.

Also: did I miss anything?

I think it will be interesting to see what happens to PSU with respect to bowl games.  Apart from the Sandusky mess they were kind of iffy on the field all year.  Their best win was ...  on the road against that school from Ohio? or maybe Iowa?

Dang, I think I'll have to revise my prediction downward for them.  They had a pretty awful finish to the year.

The rest will all take care of itself.  Michigan is a great story.  The media gets their comeback story and one of the best brands in college football at a BCS game.  Most of all, though, as Sparty will soon find out, Michigan is simply more important and relevant than they are.

I really want to hear whining out of EL.  I just can't help it.  I want to see them totally PO'd because a team they beat got a BCS berth and they didn't.  Especially when it's Michigan.

I guess the best way to explain it is this way: I detest Ohio and MSU, but at least I have a thimble full of respect for Ohio.

Eh, maybe not. Wisconsin at 10-3 probably represents a better bet for a BCS at-large over MSU since Wisconsin hung tough against a good TCU team last year and MSU had a game-long SPARTY NOOOO!!!! against Alabama.

All kinds of good storylines for Wisky too, with Wilson and Ball. What would ESPN say about MSU - that Cousins is so "articulate" (as if that wasn't a completely backhanded and racist compliment)?

If we (MSU) don't get the Rose Bowl, we'll probably play in the Outback.  We've done the Cap One enough, and most MSU people would rather go to the Outback.  Obviously, a BCS would be out of the question with a lose in the B1G CG, so the Outback would be a decent bowl.

BTW, congrats on your season.  Amazing turn around this year--especailly the defense.  Hoke seems like a decent guy who has put together a hell of a coaching group.  Good luck in your bowl game.
