Rooting Guide for Tonight

Submitted by Padog on

Well, that sucked.

Personally I need to pay attention to something else to take my mind off of earlier. A good way to do that is to watch more football and rooting for Losses to help us somehow sneak into the Playoffs.

So in my opinion, in order for us to have a solid shot at the Playoffs the following would need to happen:

Clemson loses to South Carolina.

This would give us the edge over Clemson as their two losses would be at home and not as quality as ours.

Wisconsin loses to Minnesota

3 losses= Eliminated

Penn State loses to Michigan State

3 losses= Eliminated

This makes it:

1. Alabama

2. OSU

3. Washington

4. Michigan

Thoughts?

Wazzu must beat Washington...
Michigan State needs to beat PSU, so Ohio State can beat Wisconsin again.

As painful as today was, the committee can see it as an excellent reference point.

1. Bama
2. OSU
3. Clemson
4. Michigan, if Washington, PSU and Wisconsin all lose again.

if Clemson lost tonight in addition to the other 3 losing again (Washington beat WSU but could lose in Conference championship), any remote possibility we could end up a 3 seed and play OSU again in AZ ?  I know, wishful thinking.  Just felt good  to imagine that for a second.

I dont give a damn what happens with any other team . You cant tell me that Michigan is not one of the top 4 teams in the NCAA this year .

oh and

FUCK OSU!!!!!!!!!!

We have 0% chance at making the playoffs. We pissed it away against Iowa. We might have made it if we had won that game, but in that situation OSU still wins the division because they're ranked highest. Fuck everything.

Wisconsin AND Penn state as it is now... but we need Penn state to lose and Wisconsin doesnt matter this week... OSU needs to beat Wisconsin in the b10 championship and obviously a loss by Clemson this week or next week would be huge. Colorado winning the pac 12 (I don't even know if this is possible) may give us the edge over the PAC 12 too because we beat them. I might be wrong though, I'm thinking of this information off of the top of my head.

Assume Alabama and Clemson get in.
Hope Penn State loses, then root for OSU to beat Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship. That eliminates the other Big Ten teams.
Hope Colorado beats Washington in the PAC championship, then hope ok State beats OU.
That would leave Michigan competing with 2othrr 2 loss teams for the final spot: Oklahoma State(who lost to Central Michigan) and Colorado. I know Colorado would be a conference champion but Michigan did beat them and maybe that's enough to overcome.

If PSU wins, OSU goes to the Playoffs, and the B1G Champion goes to the Rose Bowl.

If PSU loses; they will have 3 losses.  If OSU beats Wisconsin in the B1G, the Badgers will have 3 losses, and we look good for the Rose Bowl.

It ain't much, but it's something.

  • MSU beats PSU and then OSU goes on to win the Big Ten resoundingly
  • Clemson and/or Washington loses in their conference title game

At that point it's Michigan vs. 2-loss Pac-12 champ and 2-loss Big 12 champ. Michigan's resume alone will far exceed the Pac12 or Big12 champ but the no-conference title game is probably our doing in

I'd say if PSU makes the Big Ten title game our chances go to 0.00% because the BTCG winner probably goes along with OSU

But I am an eternal optimist:
Minimum
Sparty over PSU
Colorado wins out
Clemson loses (preferably to Va Tech so they won't be the ACC Champ)
Suckeyes win out

Helps
Ok St over Okla

They could still 'award' CU for winning the PAC 12 and put Michigan over the ACC
And Big 12 champ

I can't even watch any other football games. I don't want to be a poor sport about it, but goddammit I'm sick of losing to those guys! And we had them! This year, we fucking had them!! I feel devastated. I can't even appreciate that it was a good game. I hate it for all of those seniors. I hate it for every Michigan fan out there. I'm so tired of OSU getting every nice thing in the world. Today just sucks! I was calm all week about the game... The calmest I've ever been probably. And now this loss has hit me as hard as any loss I can remember.

I can't imagine a decision maker in the CFB world giving UM (2-losses, 3rd place in our division IF Ped State wins) the nod over any eligible conference champ.  No matter HOW good we think we are or how close we came to being 12-0.

While I really want to encourage optimism, if everyone else in the world loses and we somehow back our way into the playoffs as the 4th seed, we get to take our broken collarbone, derailed train & wildcan't formation on the road to play the Crimson Tide for more Drevnoball.

even IF possible... why?

Most important things for us to get in are OSU winning the Big Ten and Colorado winning the PAC-12.  Clemson loss(es) would be helpful but I don't think necessary.  And we'd rather have Oklahoma State win Bedlam.

Don't need Wisco to lose this week - I don't think that game matters either way.. Need PSU to lose, OSU to beat wisco, and a loss by Washington or Clemson.

How in the flying fuck is James Franklin and PSU going to the Big Ten title game? After we beat them 49-10? Jesus Christ if they win the big ten there is no god but there sure is a Satan.
