Ron Thompson set to announce decision in early August

Does anyone know where he is committing (or leaning)? I am assuming our coaching staff has told him that we lack room for another TE (or have other options at WR). I haven't heard of any visits or schools that have been high on his list. Is he high on MSU?
4*, #5 TE to Scout
3* to Rivals.
Could be a big WR or a pas-threat TE.
Between Thompson and Funchess, and our need at WR, I still wouldn't mind making room for him in this class and using one of the two as a (big) slot WR and bulking the other up for TE.
We'd still have room for another "true" WR in the class.
That said, I highly doubt we are in his top group --- he missed his chance to commit a couple months ago.
Funchess is a WR on his HS team right? What are the possibilities of keeping him there for college?
According to Rivals (who list him as a WR), his only other BIG offer is from Indiana.
They also list offers from Vandy, Syracuse, BG, and Toledo.
and his offer list is not what I expect from a highly rated guy.
It will be interesting to see where he goes.
I wish it was us.
"Its not Michigan"
Care to elaborate on your source for making such a definite statement?
Thompson's offer was pulled a while ago. Off the field issues prevented UM from accepting his commitment on several different occasions. UM has turned the page.
Wow, I did not know that. Thanks for info.
I never heard that either. Was it ever posted here?
I heard that maybe we wouldn't have room for a 3rd TE in this class, but I haven't heard anything about his offer actually being pulled or him having any off the field issues
Hmmm... does Tom have anything to say on this subject?
Toms packing his bags for ESPN, he hasnt spoken hardly at all lately and on twitter when he does it isnt about recruiting.
Tom just made a twitter post about recruiting a couple of minutes ago. And he made a post yesterday on Aaron Burbridge and he also made another non-weekly update post (Big house BBQ). I will agree that is hasn't been involved as much, but he still is involved giving us great info.
I think we should still pursue him. Just like jtmc33 said, we could utilize him as a big WR with the ability to finish in the red-zone.
That's something that we don't really have, unless you count Hemmingway.
in Funchess. 6'5" 215 lb receiving TE.
I can't see that there's any room for him in this class given who we've already gotten commitments from. Whatever the reasons for him not commiting here sooner, it doesn't matter now.
Perhaps Indiana isn't a bad offer, considering there are plenty of Hoosier fans who think they'll get Kiel.
I don't see it happening, but getting Kiel and Thompson would be quite the steal for Indiana. They could probably parlay that into a couple other highly rated recruits as well.
I think it be a waste of a spot that could go to DE/DT, Oline, WR, Dunn
This does not pertain to the topic of Ron Thompson, but Allen Trieu from Scout, posted this nice Class Snapshot of Michigan's commits and targets. Could someone post this on my behalf, since I do not have enough points to start my own thread. Thompson is a lost cause...
The page has not turned on Thompson. Michigan is still talking to him, and things could change there still. I can't say either way if he'll be a part of the class or not.
I'd be disappointed if he was part of this class.
