Roby and Smith Suspended for OSU Opener
Why no formatting on iPad?
In my NCAA dynasty, Buffalo beat down OSU week 1. So there's that.
touche Costmart, touche
When OSU led off against Toledo, they almost bought it. There are a few MAC teams that could pull it off. Toledo, NIU, maybe Ohio or WMU. Other than that, nope.
I'm not even sure why SUNY Buffalo even had a team. Maybe they should have a standard SUNY team do they do t suck so much.
With Hyde out for the Cal game, I knew there was no way Roby would be out of that game as well.
Urban said Roby's suspension could be increased depending on the outcome of the investigation, but as of now it is at least 1 game. The Bloomington PD did reduce the charges to disorderly conduct from assault though (I think because video evidence showed that Roby wasn't the aggressor).
I don't think anyone is too concerned about OSU beating Cal absent the entire OSU offense boycotting the game. Then I'd put it at a toss up. Cal sucks and is breaking in a new coach. It's going to be another rough season in Berkely.
Cal was 3-9 last year and OSU needed a last minute TD to pull out the win...at home. They looked much better against the Bucks than they did against the Pac 12. Poetic justice would have them win but I agree it's not likely.
I was actually picking Cal to upset Northwestern and maybe give OSU a scare until I read earlier this week that the Bears are going to be starting a true freshman at QB. So...yeah, not so much.
OSU kept missing tackles and giving up really long plays in that game. OSU gave Cal a shot at competing. If they hadn't duffed all those tackles, OSU would have won running away.
Cal is switching over to a passing spread and they're starting from a severe talent deficit. Besides, playing in Berkeley is basically like playing in Evanston. It's not much of a home field advantage.
I'm not too familiar with the turnover at Cal. I just remember Cal being in a great position to win at the shoe last year.
Pretty weak holding call negated a long Cal TD and they didn't just go for it with their run game which was gashing Ohio all day long. Instead they elected to air it out on the last drive of the game and turned it over on downs.
Surprised he got suspended at all. Police report said video showed he was pushed multiple times by bounchers before he "lunged" at them.
I'm sure the bouncers just decided to push him multiple times, for absolutely no reason at all. I'm sure he was a model citizen.
I was there Roby started the verbal confrontation from my point of view. I was pretty drunk that night so I could be wrong but I don't think I am
Sounds about right. Buffalo probably still won't shock the world, but we can always hope, right?
I think the Bucks can spot SUNY Buffalo a few starters.
That's really gonna sting.
I am guessing that Urban believes that he has really hurt his chances of beating a team that was 94th in offensive yards per game, not to mention 108th in yards per play and 106th for 3rd down conversion rate. That doesn't include Buffalo's incredible 122nd rank in red zone scoring and 119th in points per play.
OSU new commits and when a recruit verbally agrees call them future commits.
Sounds about right. Initial reports made Hyde and Roby's offenses far worse than they played out; 1 game is appropriate for what amounts to being idiots in the off-season. I just hope Meyer doesn't get any props for his handling of the cases beyond those usually doled out to coaches.
Umm, let's not sweep Hyde under the rug. That man struck a hundred pound female. That's disgusting. If I ran a team he would be gone. Roby, 1 game seems appropriate.
I really wish I could upvote this post.
Losing Hyde, Smith and Roby for that game means you might have to shave a TD off the 35-point margin the Buckeyes are favored in that contest. Maybe. So instead of a pair of featured seniors at running back, you go with Brionte Dunne and the rest of the stable, which means Miller runs a few extra carries and takes the yards the others would have gotten.
It's not exactly like this is tailback U and that Robey's absence changes the defensive gameplan against a Buffalo team that is somewhat competitive with a decent quarterback but will still get blown out by the Bucks, missing players or not.
Disclipline by Urban Meyer...
ohio nearly lost a few years ago to Navy running the option and the last time they played my alma mater, Air Force, they did lose. They got their asses handed to them. So, one can only hope.
And congrats on your retirement and thank you for your service
and I'm proud to have served. Loved every moment of my time in the AF.
AF Retired. 1991 grad, retired 3 yrs ago.
I bet if they were playing anyone worth a damn they would both be playing and Urbz would be championing what great kids they are that made mistakes..
Urban Meyer only recruits choir boys.. Let us remember that
Does anyone know if Gardner got his redshirt?
serious? I'm new to these parts.
because if he is, then there's another reason why we need the moderation feature back. And that said, you have a snark-o-meter that is well calibrated.
Welcome to the blog.
Just trying to change the subject, guys...and yes, I didn't put a /s with my post. But I thought I'd roll with it.
Yes he did.
the war that is Michigan vs Ohio is turning into a good versus evil scenario....and we know good always triumphs.

Completely inconsequential but at least it is something.
...the season opener was a conference game?
This is one of the reasons that isn't done any more. Got to open with a cupcake or two to get the off-season suspensions out of the way.
