Rivals.com "First Five Stars": Damien Harris

Submitted by a2_electricboogaloo on

This week, Rivals released it's first 10 five star players, which include our very own commit Damien Harris.  Today they released a feature/breakdown of him and his ranking [article linked here], the seventh overall in the series (probably indicating he's either the fourth best player in their rankings, or the 7th, I'm not sure).  It's been said before, but I'm still amazed that we have two top 10 caliber guys in the fold for our 2015 class already.

(FWIW: It was posted earlier that Rivals gave him a top ten ranking, but they hadn't released the article yet)

It's true that the compitition here in KY is not that great but Damien can flat out run fast.  Was it true that the same thing was said about one Mike Hart?  He put up numbers but never got the "stars" because of the competition.  That turned out all right.  Hoping to see him live a couple times.

He seldom was able to outrun people in the open field - I saw him get taken down from behind on quite a few occasions.  But, he excelled at pretty much everything else:  second effort, balance, blocking, catching passes, vision, and trash-talking Sparty.

"Not only does he have the strength to run players over, but he also has the speed to run by them." - from one of the assessments of Harris

It's always nice to have more of this combination in the RB ranks. The highlights in the video are very impressive - Harris looks very  elusive. The Hart comparison may very well be apt in that sense.

This is offtopic form the thread, but I can't make new posts. I was rewatching Hoke's initial press conference and David Brandon talked about interviewing a series of other coaches (at least five, I think). Does anyone know the other coaches Brandon interviewed?  I love Hoke, Mattison et al, but I was curious to see who else was interviewed.

There were rumors of Gruden being interviewed as well.  Tony Dungy may have been interviewed or he might have declined before an interview.   Chris Petersen was also a candidate.  I don't think it was ever revealed who actually had interest in the job besides Hoke.

Well... it's looking more and more likely that we'll be able to replicate the ammount of talent Borges had during his undefeated season at Auburn. He had two star backs and we're definitely recruiting stars at that position...
