Terry said in the scout article that he doesnt know what he is going to do now. However, they also interviewed Terrance and Tom Beaver said that before anyone panics, wait for that article. Thats the gist of the article. IMO as long as Terrance does not visit UNC we do not have much to worry about. They want to attend school together and I doubt Terrance would go anywhere he hasnt visited.

I certainly wouldn't panic if we didn't get the Talbotts, we already have 3 DT/DE tweeners and 2 other cornerbacks in this class + 2 in next years'. Safety is a much bigger concern right now and it would pain me to see Parker and Knight get squeezed out.

I wouldn't "panic" either if we didn't get the Talbotts, but, losing them would not be a good thing. It seems like there's a sizeable number of people on this board (not saying this is you, I'm just using this as an occassion to mention it) that are almost hoping for the brothers Talbott to decommit, as if it'd be a good thing. Firstly, that's never a good thing. Secondly, these kids are good prospects at positions of need. Thirdly - and I can't remember where I read this but it was somewhere on this board - RR is trying to re-cuild M's recruiting in Ohio and sees it as a key to our success. (Along w/ recruiting MI and PA and solidifying Florida as a pipeline) Being that the Talbotts are from Ohio, losing them could have future negative repercussions. So, losing them would not be good by any means. End of the world? No, but definitely not good.

It would be too strong to say I hope the Talbotts decommit, but I don't think it would necessarily be bad. The players we'd be losing are at positions we've recruited well and losing them would make room for higher rated players at a position of greater and more immediate need. Generally speaking, decommits are bad, but there's also the issue of opportunity cost. We have to drop a player to get either Knight or Parker in. All guys considered at one time to be academic question marks have been reported to be in good standing (excluding Drake, of course). So to get Parker or Knight in it looks like we have to have a decommit, the question is just who would it be?

I think the players that would be dropped to get Knight or Parker in would be walk-on who will not get a scholarship. I think the 26 number is a number that included walk-on's getting scholarships. If need be they could give those to Parker and Knight. This is all my speculation however.

No no, that 84 number is fixed. That's how many scholarships we gave out last year. That number won't change by taking away walkons' scholarships this year. It's last year's numbers that are limiting this year's class size.

It's correct that you can't apply student athletes to last year's class if it takes you over the 85 scholarship limit for last year. I wonder about the accuracy of 84, though. As far as I can recall, I don't think Rich ever definitively stated how many or which walk-ons were given a scholarship.

What does this even mean? He's allowed to think about other options - the kid is deciding where he's going to spend the next 3-5 years of his life and whether those coaches can help make him a millionnaire. When is anyone 100% sure about anything? I'm not 100% sure that I'm going to wake up this morning. I'm not 100% sure that I wasn't adopted. I'm not 100% sure that Denard Robinson is human.

because when you are 17/18 and you have to leave your home state to attend a far away school that decides your future, it's not an easy decision. Hopefully, this works out for the brothers. Go Blue!

Look, unless his brother gets an offer, I think this is a nonstarter. I just can't see him choosing UNC, when Michigan is the alternate along with playing with his brother. I just don't see it. That said...it would not be disastrous if he walked.

I really like the Talbott brothers but they need to make the decision that they feel is best for both of them. If that means they split up and Terry goes to UNC so be it. That said, I am not particularly worried. They have been pretty adamant that they will play together and the fact that Terrence has no interest in even visiting UNC will win this one for the good guys in the end.

I would say it's a good thing that UNC got a committ from a DE/DT named Kareem Martin today. Although most sites have him listed as a DE he could also be projected at the DT spot. Hopefully that will help Terry break out the scotch tape and fix that toren feeling he has.

http://tarheelblue.cstv.com/facilities/unc-kenan-stadium.html I have been through the game day experience at Kenan Stadium. It is interesting - didn't seem to be as many blue hairs (maybe harder to spot in a sea of Carolina blue), but the setting seems more like a society social event. The women wear sundresses, and the men are in slacks and golf shirts. Kind of a cross between a slightly dressed down Kentucky Derby (without the mint juleps - at least inside the gate), and a college football game. Anyway, they are pretty quiet, and it seems like the socializing continues all through the game. NC State by the way is way more college football. Shorts or jeans and Wolfpack T-shirts or sweatshirts. The crowd is much more into the game. They like to yell "ref, you suck" for every bad call against them -- even the kids. Anyway, my point is the Kenan experience with its 60,000 socializing fans, is nothing like the Big House with 107,000. Their site mentions something about weight room expansion and other renovations as well. No way it compares. The facilities money at UNC goes to hoops. Though they beat Va Tech, Miami and BC last year, UNC isn't the pinnacle of even ACC football ether. The only reason I'd imagine Terry choosing the Heels over Michigan, is Butch Davis whispering about playing time and the potential for a coaching change. That or he feels uneasy that he may be asked to grey shirt or something by Michigan in order to make room on the roster for some other player. It just wouldn't make sense for a young man (even) from Ohio to go play at UNC, versus the opportunity to play at Michigan.
