Can you shed any light on this?

Three star line backer out of Holland, MI.  Project kid - or ready to play?  That three star rating has me wondering.  Does he hold any other offers?

He has offers by Akron, BG, and Buffalo, which would worry me but the coaches definitely know what they are doing and have proven they can spot talent regardless of star ratings and other offers.  So if he does commit, I say welcome to the leaders and the best.

Well, Denard was a 4-star Athlete, right? I seem to remember hearing that one of the biggest reasons that he chose Michigan was because they were willing to give him a shot at playing QB (unlike, say, Florida). So he was a 4-star, but not a 4-star QB.

Also, I thought it would be jumping the gun a bit to bust out the Vinopal reference.

Michigan, Florida and Kansas State all offered Denard the chance to play QB (although Florida did so fairly late in the game).  Everyone agreed that he'd make a great college football player; the question was just at what position.  It's not a great example.

He runs like he just ate a whole patch of angry onions. I don't know enough to be able to tell if he's D1 material, but he seems to wrap up well and have pretty good instincts based on the few minutes of footage.

From my point of view(that has no "expertise")- He doesn't seem to be playing against very good competition, nothing against him, nothing he can do about that. With that said, it appears that it would be more of a project and almost certain RS.

Who knows though. Our lb crew needs so much help, hopefully he will be an impact player instantly.

So, yeah, Michigan high school football isn't exactly Texas, Florida, or California on the whole.  However, West Ottawa plays in the OK-Red Conference, which is probably the best football conference in West Michigan.

Other schools in the conference?  Oh, just Hudsonville, Rockford, Muskegon, East Kentwood, Grand Haven, Jenison, and Grandville.  Look up those schools and you might not find a ton of high-flight D1 prospects, but what you will find are many good teams that simply win football games.  I don't have the numbers in front of me for this particular season, but traditionally, and in the last few years, most of those teams are quite good (particularly Muskegon, Hudsonville, Rockford, and EK).

Ok am I the only guy confused by this kids two highlight videos. He is a linebacker and fullback his junior year and then all of a sudden he is a quarterback and linebacker and he seems to have gained a lot of speed and athleticism. Maybe Im way off and he looked the same in both but thats just what i saw. But he does seem like a very smart player who wont get caught out of position and more importanly he knows how to wrap and tackle
