I think that a lot of us find it interesting to see what our national perception is. It doesn't change our opinion of ourself - because this national stuff is so superficial - but it's interesting. Recruiting rankings are interesting. They don't mean diddly on the field, but they're interesting. There's nothing wrong with posting something interesting.

Let me illustrate how this works;

Writer needs pageviews and traffic

Writer knows fans can be really whiny about 'respect' and negative critcism

Writer decides to write blurb that will piss aforementioned stupid fans off, regardless of the veracity of the blurb

Stupid pissy fans get riled up, link the article, tell other fans, and go RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

Traffic to site increases

Wow.. you took it the whole nine yards.

It must be nice to live in a world where you don't have to listen to garbage from rival fans/co-workers who eat this stuff up. I figured it would be easier to discuss within our own fanbase... didn't mean to put my dick in your pint

Shut down the program. Clearly Harbaugh was overhyped and doesn't know what he's doing b/c he didn't win the Rivals' W/L of NSD Championship.

Dude, let it go.  It's obvious why -- we swung and missed on a large number of recruits.  We (maybe unfairly so) were expected to land a number of players just because of the glitz of HARBAUGH.  It's revisionist history to pretend we didn't strike out quite a bit on NSD.

Onto the future.  Okay?

The only real miss we had was Chris Clark (guys like Marshall, Weber, etc. were already committed or it was well known they were going) and when he says he would have picked Michigan if it were only about football, there isn't much more you can do.

I disagree with your assessment, or conclusion that we struck out quite a bit. That is your opinion, but I think we did what was expected we got some and some got away. In the end we did fairly well. When you say we struck out, please explain further what you mean exactly? What were you expecting?

That is the biggest question to me... what the hell were people expecting?

In a few weeks, Jim Harbaugh recruited, flipped and signed the highest rated QB recruit in the B1G.

He managed to flip commited recruits from Cal, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern, Texas and Florida State. One of which never visited campus(Washington).

And to top it off, hired a RB coach whose highly recruited son was probably going to UCLA up until said hiring. But he went Blue.

I'm supposed to be disappointed with this? Wake me for the spring game.

I agree michigan is getting penalized for having a small recruiting class, but this is probably the least talented recruiting class Michigan has taken in the recruiting site era. The new coaches had limited time and unfortunately couldn't seal the deal with the big time recruits which is no fault of their own. Fortunately this wasn't a big class. They should be able to bounce back from fairly easy with the 2016 class.

Get Jim Harbaugh

What's ridiculous is caring about the opinions of outsiders. The most important thing is that the coaches got some players who they think will contribute. The OP sounds like a Sparty fan, desperate for validation.

going into the Utah game to now? Kinda. Yet, landing Harbaugh & him getting what he did in essentially 24 days is pretty good. Never thought for a second that we'd get any of the old class back anyway. Class is actually better than I thought it'd be the day we hired him. A trade I'll take every time.

I love it.. What a great description.  I too, am proud of the class and the last 24 days.  It really was "Delightfully Average" , nobody expected good with a late December coaching change ... Delightfully Average- A tick up from Average, and a tick below "Sadly Good" , which to me is a school assuming they will be getting a "Great" class ala the yearly Bama classes, and only getting a "good" class...

Not only did they list us as winners, but they seemed to have a much better grasp - or appreciation - for the circumstances we were working with... I wasn't surprised to get the lazy, half-assed 'losers' tag from USA today, but I wasn't expecting it from rivals.

Clearly this means nothing in regard to the kids we signed or our prospects fo rthe future... I just hate giving the rivals more bullets when I already feel like swiss cheese

Is this honestly the best use of your time today? Posting this crap on the message board that many of us visit to find legitimate news about Michigan? God, put the rankings crap to bed already. It means NOTHING.

Last I drove down State St. I did not see Harbaugh in a Statue of Liberty suite selling scholarships.

We will have 85 on scholarship this fall and 20 more suited up for the love of Michigan and most all of them will be successful in life. Sounds like a winner to me!

Who gives a shit?

Harbaugh has assembled the most ridiculous coaching staff in college football. I mean, besides Harbaugh, the staff is littered with former head coaches, DCs, OCs at both the top college and pro levels. Frickin' Dennis Pitta is giving endorsements, as is Denard regarding his old OC.

This team will transform and it will transform quickly, so stop being so frickin' sensitive. And when we start winning again, be like Barry Sanders. Hand the ball to the refs like we've been there, and get ready for the next drive.
