I think one of the reasons he came out was because so many others stayed in school because of the lockout. He thought he could sneak into the first round, and it probably wasn't that bad of a gamble.

But obviously, the reason so many guys stuck around for an extra year was the uncertainty of the NBA season. Darius had to know this at the time. If there is an NBA season this year, it probably wasn't that bad of a decision. If not, then you might be right.

I thought Darius did a really nice job leading the team last season. But I never saw him as an NBA first-rounder -- not yet, anyway. He was a quite good college player who had yet to become dominant or multi-faceted. I was shocked by his decision to leave -- way more shocked than I was when Harris and Warren left. His decision had uh-oh written all over it.

Next year's draft was much deeper. He would have probably still been drafted at about the same spot or lower, even with improvement. His main issues are going left and shooting. He wouldn't have been able to fully fix them in an offseason while still having classes to attend and homework. In retrospect, it seems like it was a bad choice, but I don't blame him at all.

I'm really excited for basketball season. I wish Morris had stayed but I think Belien has this team pointed in the right direction. Should be a fun season!

I'm pumped to see what this team can do. If Burke can step in and provide solid minutes at the point (a lot to ask of a freshman, even a Mr. Basketball...) the sky's the limit. I think I'm most excited to see the post game now that Morgan's had another summer to practice his moves and Horford has put on 30lbs of good weight.

And next year? Man. Hate to look ahead, especially with the team looking good this year, but good heavens. If Hardaway sticks around, that team will be insane even without McGary. If you put McGary in the mix, they could be contenders. Love Beilein and where he's got this team right now.

Looks like a very good team, but I'm always worried about the PG position when a freshman will be playing big minutes.  Expect the offense to center around Hardaway and Morgan.  Will be interested to see how the defense plays, as Morris was an underrated defender in Beilein's system.

Seat in the upper bowl area were around $12 to $15. I just bought my season ticket package but my seats got switched and I forgot to figure out game to game prices. Plus with the new digs, prices may go up but I don't think upper bowl will be over $20 a seat. IMO.

Angry thisisme08 posted D'Mo's "Get the fuck of my court"  in response to trolling Sparty fans on his facebook wall, quite funny how they do not acknowledge that M is on a 2-0 win streak against their precious messiah.

is the difference between a middle of the pack big 10 team and a top 20 team.

But it will be interesting to see the tension between what I suspect will be Beilein's urge to go small with Burke/Brundige/THJ/Novak/Morgan, and the fact that Michigan has multiple legitimate bigs now, and could play a successful conventional lineup. I'm sure he will go back and forth depending on the situation, but if you go Burke/THJ/Novak/Horford, you're even more dependent on Burke to be efficient, distribute, and get to the rack.

I guess he could go with Brundidge at point, but I get the impression he's more shoot-first, which doesn't feel terribly Beilinish.

A fascinating conundrum for the coach.

Smotrycz could make a big jump this year - I really feel he is going to be a big time player in Beilein's system.  I think it is possible we see a lot more of him at times than Morgan, depending on match-ups and how Morgan's shot and low post moves have developed.  But I agree - Burke and Brundidge need to be able to provide some penetration for us.  Hopefully Hardaway as well has improved his ability to take the ball to the hole.

I wonder to what degree Morris -- if any -- Morris feared the arrival of Burke, who has the potential to supplant most starting PGs in the league. Morris was already fearful that this year's draft class would be stronger than last year's. I just detect -- perhaps wrongly -- a lot of fear-based decisions on Morris's part. Not that fear was necessary unjustified -- the kid wanted to make a living. But I'm pretty sure he would have done better to play another year in college.
