I could easily see Bryan Mone ending up a lot higher than that.
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
I could easily see Bryan Mone ending up a lot higher than that.
Yeah, Mone looks like a top 100 player to me.
When does Mone want to make a decision?
From what I understand, when he wraps up some loose ends and just gets more comfortable, like taking parents on visits, seeing a few more campuses for comparison, that sort of thing.
And by that, I obviously meant in 18 minutes.
On this comment. Try it again with some other big recruits
No Speight? UHG
cue the Speight freakouts
Plus, Chance Stewart at #215.
I once tried to return a sportcoat out of Speight.!
Speighters gonna Speight.
I thought that he was supposed to be a merson with a lot of raw potential but hadn't played football for very long. If he can improve this year maybe he'll receive that bump.
1) Da'Shawn Hand
Not considered a "prospect of interest" because he's already that much of a lock.
Josh Malone and Mark Andrews PLZ, kthxbai.
I really like PARRKER Westphal I don't see 212 players better then him
I think a lot of Michigan fans are overrating Westphal a little bit because he seems really interested in coming to Ann Arbor. I think we should remember that the coaches have talked to him about playing slot corner, and he's a thicker kid who lacks a little bit of speed. He's a good football player and I'm not anti-Westphal, but he's not really an elite (aka top 100) talent. I think #213 is probably a pretty good spot for him, although I haven't watched film of all the other 212 guys ahead of him.
And why haven't you??
I am a failure at life.
I'm not one for a bias opinion, watching his film I see a guy who is a great open field tackler who can get physical. I honestly see him as a more recent day woodson playing the nickel, blitzing, safety, and playing in the box. in no way am I comparing him to woodson I'm just saying I could see him playing a similar type role as Woodson esp seeing how much Mattison likes playing in the nickel. Now for the negatives he doesnt seem to have great top end speed, hip, and he doesnt look like he plays the ball well when its in the air
Recruiting strategy: invoke Woodson's name in talks with every DB recruit
Boundary CB: you can be the UM-era Woodson for us!
Slot CB: you can be the present-day GB iteration of Woodson for us!
Run-stuffing Safety: you can be future years' version of Woodson for us!
see maybe you missed the part were I clearly stated I am in no way comparing him to Woodson? I am talking about playing a role similar to Woodson's role on the packers
If you listen to recruits, it's pretty clear that Michigan plays fast and loose with the Woodson card. Every year there seems to be a handful of guys who make some statement along the lines of, "Coach said I could become the next Woodson!"
To be honest, I'm surprised it gets kids so excited; most of them were 0-2 years old when Woodson won the Hesiman.
oh and what do you mean future Woodson playing safety? hmm watch the NFL then speak to me
I could see them playing the same position, blitzing, etc., but there's no comparison between the two. You could just as easily say "Brandon Harrison" instead of Woodson.
on a few of those guys, and, plus Speight, that's our class right???
Man I hope we flip Webb. McDowell would make me feel better about LM too.
Imagine if we get #1 Hand and #2 Peppers
That would be tremendous!
And add #8 Adoree Jackson to that haul. One can dream
Landing Westphal, Troy Vincent, and Adoree Jackson would take a little bit of the sting out of Webb going to Columbus, no? Doles, Cole, and Bars I can see us landing, Prince, Bauer, or Talamaivao, or Jones would be a good way to round out the next top line class, too.
I'm no scout, but his highlights look pretty darn good to me. I would love to see him suit up at WR for Michigan.
Blacknall looks pretty good, but check out John "Juju" Smith. I really like this kid, and not just because of his nickname:
Daniel Helm (TE visiting this weekend) is ranked 201
Another note: not a ton of pro-style QB's this year. Good amount of dual-threats but it seems like a pretty big down year for pro-style QB's. Speight may climb if he gets into some camps as he has been pretty limited with scouting last year.
Doles is small-ish and sitting on offers from Michigan and Iowa State. There's a good chance you won't see him on the top 250 list at all throughout the recruiting process.
He's under 250 lbs. If he bulks up and/or camps well he'll get more offers and recognition, or if he goes Blue. It doesn't matter much because we know what we're getting, but it'd still be nice.
Doles and Braden are similiar comparisons at this stage.
Maybe recruiting-wise, but they're not similar players...
Other prospects of interest:
#224 WR Corey Holmes
#225 WR Dominque Booth
#236 DB D'Andre Payne
#243 DE Melvin Keihn
D'Andre Payne gets my vote for most badass name of the 2014 class. Wonder if he's related to Major Payne?
Corey Holmes would be a great get. Any good news on him lately?
Are there any prospects on this list that are pretty sure things?
For whatever it's worth, both Parrker Westphal and Corey Holmes have named Michigan their leader at one time.
Please tell me we have interest in #104 Speedy Noil. Please?
I just checked the all-time roster database, and if he came to Michigan, he would be the first Noil.
I thought his grandfather, Extremely Lethargic Noil was an OL for Bo.
are we going to take zero linemen in 2014?
Mason Cole named Michigan as his leader at one point, Denzel Ward used to be committed, Tommy Doles is likely to pick Michigan...
I think we'll take 3 or 4 linemen in 2014.
Seems like a good year for linemen in Ohio and receivers in Indiana
So is Alex Bars the highest rated OL we're after at the moment?
No. We're after Cameron Robinson, the #7 overall prospect, and Braden Smith, the #19 overall player.
Not surprising to see USC, Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame, etc with some commits but slightly surprising to see Clemson with 3 early commits in the top 250.
Am I wrong in thinking Malik McDowell was a safe bet that Michigan was his favorite team and leader or am I thinking of someone else?
I think Notre Dame and Michigan are about even.
We need a game changing receiver two in this class. Obviously.
Why haven't we shown interest in Reilly Gibbons? He's got offers from Ohio State and Florida, and I'm sure his brother could put a good word in for the good guys.
We have shown interest, but we have not offered.
Also, Reilly Gibbons is the cousin of Brendan, not a brother.
