Rising Stars Highlights(Jabrill, Damon Webb, Funchess, Mo Ways, Burbirdge, Gardner)

Submitted by MJ14 on

Recently some of Michigan's finest went to a rising stars camp and they did some 1 on 1 stuff with other players. The list of players includes: Funchess, Peppers, Damon Webb, Aaron Burbridge, Jarrod Wilson, Mo Ways, Devin Gardner, Jalen Embry, and a younger guy from Cass Tech Lavert Hill, among others. Some tweets to go along with the video:

3 future Big 10 DB standouts - Jabrill Peppers ( Michigan), Tim Cason(Purdue) and Damon Webb(Ohio State). http://t.co/jCs4JUCPDP

Lavert Hill looks good for a high school prospect. Funchess has crazy good hands and body control. Mo Ways looks like a very good receiver. Burbridge definitely looks like he could be elite. Webb looked pretty good. The CB going to MSU(who's name I forget) held the receiver blatantly both times I saw him, so he's certainly ready for duty with MSU. Jalen Embry looks like he'll be a solid player for Iowa. Ball State got a steal in Corey Lacanaria.

Corey Lacanaria 2 stars lol.  I'd take him and put him at slot tomorrow - same size as Gallon who did fine in college - needs about 15 lbs and he'll be a sick matchup.   Guy has serious change of direction and speed to waste.  I'd be shocked if he finishes at Ball State when it is all said and done.

Jabrill needs to learn fast he is not going to out beast people at this level.

Those really were some very entertaining highlights. Funchess and Peppers appeared to win more battles than they lost, and that’s not a bias opinion. Deion Sanders’ 4.29 make up speed… is the thing that made him so good, not just his cover skills. Deion could recover and quickly get back into the play… after being momentarily beat. Jabrill Peppers will have to develop his technique, but his athleticism and speed will keep him near most wide receivers when the ball arrives.

...the same thing that was mentioned a few days back about the tweets with these guys?

Just wondering if it's the same event (with video) or a different event altogether.

To me it looked like Mo Ways was having trouble creating seperation.

I thought Jabrill looked good.  He was as strong and fast as advertised.  I might have been watching through maize and blue lenses but it looked like Damon Webb could have been called for PI on basically ever rep of his.

Delano Hill and Jarrod WIlson didn't really impress me too much.  I know they aren't corners but their man coverage looked pretty bad.  The biggest difference I noticed between the highschool and college players was just their size.  I didn't notice that the college players had much better technique but maybe it was too subtle for me to see it.

he has the body of a SR. My God does he look ready or what. Is he gonna get on the field? there is no way he can be kept off the field. Yeah he may be a little raw, but hell I could coach that kid, he IS the real deal!!!

Damon Webb looked like he interfered with Funchess on every play those two were together. In all fairness if you want to get near the ball defending Funchess you better hold. Go Blue!

Funchess was a beast. Moe Ways just has to work on getting off the line better like a lot of you have said already. Jabrill looked good, he reaches a lot when he presses, but when he connects he dominates and also his closing speed, holy shit he's fast. Damon Webb I think will be good in the future, but he had PI almost every play, and was always holding. I think Jalen Embry looked great to me, he should be good in the future and I wish he got an offer.

That's some good summer filler! Excellent local talent there, great to see. If Lavert Hill continues to progress I wouldn't be suprised at an offer going out to him at all. The future is definitely bright. After a few years in the S&C program Mo Ways will be Jason Avant 2.0 book it! Maybe not blazing speed but a large catch radius and exceptional hands.

Jabrill has to be the most physically ready freshman recruit to come in to AA ever. The hype train continues, and most of it seems to be warranted. I really can't wait to see how this translates to the field. I love his mentality as well I think aside from his footbal acumen, his do or die attitude might be even more impactful for the team.
