I was lucky enough to see him at a convention in Dearborn. Later that day he performed the world premier of Spock vs. Q with John deLancie. What a great memory. It's awfully dusty in this room at the moment.

My grandma is 93 in a couple weeks. She smoked for decades and is now suffering from COPD (what Leonard Nimoy died from). Just because you make it into your 80s or 90s does not negate how terrible the end is for many smokers. Please consider quitting if you smoke.

I was very surprised that I took Robin Williams' death so hard -- he wasn't my favorite actor or comedian or anything, and he hadn't starred in anything all that meaningful to me, but still, he was so incredibly talented and such a fabulous entertainer that to hear he took his own life really left me feeling empty for a few days.

I am not having quite the same level of sadness, but I am surprised to find myself shedding some tears for Mr. Nimoy.  I grew up on Trek reruns, although I have never ever thought of myself as a Trekkie, because it was so obviously corny.  But of all the characters on that show and in TV more generally, he really, really stood out as something of a heroic character -- stoic, wed to his logic and inescapable conclusions, loyal to the bitter end.  And as an actor, he seemed to really relish and be charmed by what he'd created (unlike, say, Sir Alec Guinness).  So we've lost a really iconic person and character.

Keep living long and prospering on your new voyage, Mr. Nimoy.

My old man is a diehard Trekkie, so I grew up watching reruns. Anybody remember that show on Nickelodeon he used to host called "Standby, Lights, Camera, Action" ? Pretty cool show that went behind the scenes of the movies that came out back then. That's how I discovered that the sound effects for the lightsabers were created by microphone feedback.

My father was a HUGE fan of Star Trek and in particular Spock.  Watched Star Trek over and over again growing up.  To me, Spock was iconic.  But Leonard Nimoy was able to personify Spock within his own personality, intelligent, logical, passionate, under control, brilliant.... (small side note, he does the voice overs for the technologies on Civ 3.  I imagine it as Spock reading the narratives)

How he even carried on his legend into the latest movies was cool.  I will miss you Leonard Nimoy.... You are, and always will be...my friend.....  Live long and prosper......

Before Star Trek, Leonary Nimoy and William Shatner were guest stars in an early episode of the first season of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., along with William Klemperer and the usual cast of the TMFU.

This video at Y2K scared the CRAP out of my wife.  She insisted we have a portable generator, camping gear, 6 months of MRE's and a second shotgun (always had one for home protection) with enough shells to fight off a zombie apacolypse.  Worst of all I come home one day to my basement filled with10-55 gallon drums of water!

Of course Y2K passes and fifteen years I drop the I-T-Y-S becuase when I finally drain out these drums I learn that she got this "deal" from a guy that worked at GATES BBQ here in Kansas City and although clean water it made the whole house smell like BBQ sauce as it went down the drain.

That is terrible news....      he was fantastic in "In Search Of..." and I always wanted to ask him a question about a certain episode about a underwater pyramid off of the Bahamas.

I watched Star Trek from the first time it aired and this really feels like a crushing loss.  One thing that's always surprised me is how little attention he gets for his role as Paris on Mission Impossible.  I was also a huge fan of that show and it was great to see LM there after Star Trek was cancelled.

I can remember watching with my Dad for the last 2 years that the series was on the air. I was 5 and 6 at time. I've watched numerous reruns in the 70s. Nimoy's Spock was my favorite character. Just like my Dad they both had great lives!
