RIP Gene Wilder

Still noteworthy. And he married a Detroit girl.
His role in Blazing Saddles is still one of my favorite characters.

One of my 2,000 favorite lines from that movie.

Yep...and Gilda Radner attended Michigan (although didn't graduate from what I've read). At least they're reunited after all these years.
Still, I feel my childhood just took a huge wallop. Pretty much played our family's tape of Willy Wonka until it wore out.

I watched that as a kid and as an adult. Great movie!
RIP Gene

Didn't what used to be on the other side?

Was my sister's roomate her freshman year in west quad.

By which I mean, cool story, bro.
Did you get to know Gilda Radner at all through your sister, and did your sister remain in contact with her? Wilder and Radner - from afar - seemed like one of the most likeable celebrity power couples in existence. Funny, whip-smart, seemingly approachable, and to all appearances a loving couple.
(FWIW, my son's new college roommate looks just like Urkel. Right down to the birth control glasses. But is not Urkel. So that's not as cool a story.)

LIke many Freshman roomates they drifted apart and didnt really stay in touch. I would've met her (although I dont remember doing so) cause i was only 6 when my sister started school.
FWIW I lost my sister a few months ago to Cancer too.

Someone make this a meme and put Harbaugh on it. Wait, he's way too intense to deliver that line.

While I enjoyed Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka because it was just so out there. I always will prefer Gene's because he just seemed to enjoy being a real prick to kids.

“Satire is tragedy plus time. You give it enough time, the public, the reviewers will allow you to satirize it. Which is rather ridiculous, when you think about it.”
I'm gonna upvote, because Lenny Bruce.
(And I thought Gene Wilder was a brilliant actor, giving multi-layered performances that always went for more than [just] the cheap joke.)

Mel Brooks and Gene Hackman are still around.
August 29th, 2016 at 4:28 PM ^
My bad for forgetting Hackman and such a great part. I didn't count Brooks but only because he didn't act in it.

And if you're referring to Teri Garr, she's been battling MS since 1999. Hilarious lady .

You know, just when you thought 2016 couldn't get more depressing in the way of deaths of revered musicians and stars....wow. Very sad to hear this.
"Blazing Saddles", "Young Frankenstein", but the original Producers film, "Stir Crazy", and let's not forget that he had a role in "Bonnie And Clyde" too, and of course, there is more.
RIP Gene Wilder.

An Armenian peasant, ostensibly only in a movie, in a client-therapist situation. The sheep wore fancy lingerie to bed for Wilder but not for the Armenian. We Armenians can never forgive this. At least Wilder had the good sense to marry Gilda. They are together now, cracking jokes. I'll miss Wilder and his humor.

The sheep should have known better...it probably ended up becoming shish kebab or khoravadz BBQ.
August 29th, 2016 at 4:42 PM ^
I ate that sheep. Didn't want to do it -- just felt I owed it to her. The liver with fava beans and a fine chianti. Armenian revenge.

I'll just upvote instead. That might be my favorite line in any Mel Brooks movie, though the competition is fierce.
