I'm curious about something: i know there's the faction of people who (ime stupidly) want Rich's head right now, but my question is at what point Rich says, 'f- it, this isn't working, i'm out of here'. Anyone think that's at all likely?would that be career suicide for him? I certainly don't pretend to know the answer on this one, but when things go this far off course, i think you have to wonder. Now, i think that if we a.) eek out a huge upset in one of these last 2 games, thereby nabbing a bowl game or b.) are at least competitive in BOTH games, then the afforementioned idea is off the table. If we endure 2 blowout losses with no signs of life, i will continue to wonder...
From what I've seen - and i've been at the point of head-asplode numerous times - there's definitely progress from last year on the offensive side, which is keeping us in some of these games. Defensively, i'm having a hard time envisioning things changing for the better without RR finding a defensive mastermind who can recruit big-time players.
I'm beyond the point of really being mad. There's just not much left to do except sit back and watch the games, hoping we can outscore an opponent. We're a bad team right now... have been for several weeks.
On another note, I have to say, while Tate's numbers have totally come down to earth (and below, at points), i really love that the kids wants (almost TOO much so) to make plays. he's scrambling wayyy too much, and has made some terrible decisions, but he's trying to do whatever he can to try to make things happen. i've been hard on the kid at points, but good for him for continuing to fight. i'd be surprised if he's not a MUCH improved QB next fall. nice stat: only 5 ints in 217 pass attempts. that stat caught me by surprise. more than anything, i want to see tate develop a chemistry with one of these wideouts over the offseason. a go-to guy will do wonders for him. Nice to see Roundtree have a big game today.
