RichRod: "Better Times are Coming"

Submitted by MGoShoe on
'Better times are coming'.
“We think about it every day and I know a lot of our fans, our great fans do as well, but I’m obsessed and I think our staff and I certainly think our players are obsessed with it, too," Rodriguez told host Ryan Ermanni. "And we know the last two seasons haven’t gone the way any of us would like, but at the same time we’ve made some progress, we’ve kind of put the foundation down and now we’re ready to start getting going with more wins.
Other topics covered: • On how much Michigan can get accomplished this spring • On what advantages there are for the seven true freshmen who enrolled early • On having more competition for starting jobs • On how having Greg Robinson back for a second season should help the defense

I threw up a little reading those comments. Really makes a person thankful for MGoBlog... And yes, I'm full expecting a good to great season this year.

Oh wow I just went and read the comments. I usually avoid all comments on articles because the general intelligence level is somewhere around Forrest Gump level. But, wow those comments are really, really, dumb.

...and the fair weather "fans", these comments are nothing short of craptacular. My theory: MGoBlog provides us a place where we don't have to contend with the constant bullshit. As a result, hardly any real fans post comments on A2.com, mlive.com, etc. We know it's a waste of time, so we've totally ceded the territory to the douchemeisters.

...bunch of non donating, illogical, unloyal, gutless, character deficient jackasses (who yell at 18 year olds). I agree that mostly at MGoBlog the miscreants are run off for their idiocy which is recognized immediately. If you are *that guy* on MGoBlog sooner or later the banhammer finds you...I am looking in your direction TomHagen.

I never want to read the comments, but it always ends up happening. I read the first one, start seething, read the next one, and the next one, and the next one... Next thing I know, I'm sitting in a pile of splintered wood that used to be my desk.

I can't stand "angry" Ann Arbor townies. They don't know shit about football, and they are always looking for something to bitch about. Right now, bashing Rich Rod is the "cool" thing to do, so the townies do it. They're better than trolls, but they put on this act like they actually know what's best for the team. In reality, they are a bunch of fucking morons.

those comments, but if it's anything like the old MLive (the precursor to AA.com) comments, there are a few very dedicated haters, one of whom is a total nutcase who juggles multiple usernames -- he rarely says it outright, but basically he thinks Les Miles should have been hired instead of Rich and thus wants him to fail so he can be proven right. There was a rumor at one point that U-M has a restraining order against him -- he has apparently written hundreds of letters to everyone from MSC on down. Anyhow, I stopped participating there the minute I found MGoBlog, and haven't looked back.

I'd like nothing more than for M to have a 10 win season in 2010. Not to convince any of the RRod haters (though I'm sure it would redirect the bandwagon) but rather to shit in their argument.

Not that I don't already respect RR, but if this man can turn us around (I think he will) he will go down as a true idol of mine. Will really show what a little positivity and perseverance can do.

to implod when we lose. We do need to get in a bowl this year. Heck, even when we were 4-0 last year he said we have a long way to go. He isn't selling us a bag of lies. He knows talent and he has plan. It will come together and it will be a great perseverance story. It just won't be covered in that local fictional paper we hate.

RR's comments have been consistent with each year he's been at Michigan--08 was very cautious, 09 was more confident, and now showing some excitement. We all now there will still be bumps in the road but each side of the ball will show improvement.

The guy knows the talent he has better then anyone. Each year it gets better. It may not seem like it bit it is progressing. The one thing that sticks out to me is the way he is changing our team to adapt to the new type of college football. The spread is here to stay. We are changing while the rest of the conference stands by. I know Northwestern and Purdue run a spread. They don't get the athletes that we can. This year will surprise alot of critics.

Last year, we all looked at RR's historical jumps from bad year 1s to good year 2s and were hopeful but cautious because of the dynamics going on--particularly the freshman QB--I feel like there's a very good chance we'll see that jump this year because this will be year 2 for key parts of the team. Tate has run the offense and gotten some downtime to reflect/recover/learn more--I think he'll have a large improvement, my hope is that it's especially in reading the player he's supposed to be keying off and selling the fake, because he was pretty awesome last year without doing either of those well and those would be huge improvements. I also think that having GERG back is crucial, there's just been so much turnover on DC that this consistency is going to be very helpful. We're also returning the vast majority of the team, we were still putting a lot of the pieces of the puzzle as last year started--there's always some of that every year but last year was more than usual and I think this year might be a little less than usual which should not only help with experience but also means key players get more reps/attention during spring and summer.

I'm really excited for this season, I think we are going to show a lot of improvement. The only question is how many people are going to try to jump back on the bandwagon?

How many bandwagon-jumpers are going to jump back on the bandwagon when Michigan starts winning again? Easy: all of them. And they'll be easy to find: they'll be the ones saying "I told you so" or "I was behind RR all along." They'll just forget to mention that they were "behind" RR with their weapon of choice.
