Richardson Tweet
OK, but it's not like that will be determined before NSD, and no other team worth playing for will make him that promise anyway. But yeah, he's not starting here next fall.
I know he was probably just talking but that's the same thing I thought when I saw that tweet the other day.
no he tweeted saying he needs to didn't start offtop at Michigan if the come talking about that redshirt stuff its a wrap.
he then sent out tweets later asking fans not to go posting his tweets on blogs and stuff. But I always felt he was the least firm commit we have.
English, Mother Fucker! Do you speak it?
I'm on my phone and it screwed everything up with auto predict.
You must have very fat fingers or something.
No I was typing and it auto predicts what I am going to say and I didn't proofread it before I sent it.
I didn't proofread it before I sent it.
Take a deep breath, look it over. The board ain't going anywhere. :)

Meow do you know?
This is absolutely hilarious:

You will not be disappointed.
Is this a virus bot post? Mods?
Opened it on my ipad and it's just damnyouautocorrect.. If you dont feel safe with the link just google it.
Do you have a smartphone? If you type in a word that it doesn't have in the auto correct then it will save it...
Yes bitch , I speak it. !
edit: previous post (damn auto correct)
he said he needed to start offtop at Michigan and if they come talking about redshirting its a wrap.
OK, not much better. What does start offtop mean? And what do you mean by "it's a wrap?"
Start offtop is his words. It means he plans to be starting immediately
I'm not sure what he means by its a wrap but it sounds like he would not come if they wanted him to redshirt.
maybe you should ask TRichardson
That's actually pretty much word-for-word what T-Rich wrote in his tweet. Don't kill the messenger.
In my defense, he didn't have it in quotes, so I didn't think that was the tweet, I thought that was his paraphrase of the tweet. I don't know what offtop means, and I didn't know if "it's a wrap" was good or bad. Since he had some autocorrect errors before, I assumed that mumbo jumbo was more of the same.
Why are you being a dick?
I'm in the same grade as T-Rich. "Its a wrap" is similar to saying it's gonna be over
He is smarter than all you think. He will be fine and a great wolverine
Eh. A high school senior says something hot-headed? I'm not gonna worry about it; TR seems vocal about things in general. Besides, I really doubt the coaches would tell him he's gonna redshirt. If he's the best player, he's gonna see the field. Personally, I think a RS year would benefit him mostly just to put some weight onto his frame.
That's the nice way of putting it. It's like he's purposely trying to make himself less endearing.
He is still young. Not every recruit can be Shane. His buddies Ross and RJS will make sure he is ok.
than the people getting upset about what an 18-year-old kid they don't know says on the internet.
Bad mouth a player that will eventually be playing for Michigan. You don't know him or his motivation behind the tweet. Maybe he was misunderstood, maybe he wasn't, but jumping to conclusions is unnecessary.
He has since recinded the tweet and appologized for saying something that a lot of people misunderstood and that he understands what an opportunity playing at michigan is.
Nuff said.
I'm gonna give T-Rich the benefit of the doubt here (and he recently tweeted a similar stance) that the tweet was about him being confident in his abilities not about him giving an ultimatum. That being said, he really needs to take diligent notes in Hoke's Twitter 101 class next year.
He apologized and didn't mean it the way people took. He just wants to show people how determined he is and I am completely cool with that. Having him, Blake, and possibly yuri is going to be great for the secondary. Jarrod as well.
I cannot start a thread, but I thought everyone would like to see this...apparently the Michigan State players were already given the gloves and jerseys worn during the UM vs. MSU game this year. Now they are getting the helmet for their bowl gift.
No big deal, but I like what Brian Linthicum says about beating Michigan four times in a row was a "once-in-a-lifetime" happening. Glad to know that even they don't think this will ever happen again!
From Lansing State Journal 12/21/11 :
"Fifth-year senior tight end Brian Linthicum agreed.
"That's probably the most exciting gift," Linthicum said. "Gift cards are gift cards. We get them every year. The helmet we thought we were getting right after the game. We got the gloves, jersey, everything but the helmet.
"The helmet, it represents so much. It's like a piece of you, especially when you're playing. The jersey we wanted, but the only thing other than that we wanted is the helmet. It's something you're going to keep forever. You're going to put it up in a case, let your kids look at it. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing for MSU. It's exciting to be a part of that, especially the senior class, beating (Michigan) for the fourth time."
Unless you think that Linthcum will beat Michigan another four times, it is once in a lifetime.
Well, technically he stated it was once in a lifetime for MSU, not him personally. Technically.
What else are they going to do with the helmets? Of course they gave them away. Just like we gave away the Notre Dame night jerseys. It's not like a game against ND means anything anymore, but rather that it's cool for the players to have real memoribilia instead of throwing it away.
i saw his tweet too. only he knows what he really meant. he looks like a fine prospect. and im sure the coaches will let him know. its about the team. and if he outs himself before the team. im sure they wouldnt beg him to stay. but he's young and hopefully he is good enough to start or play next fall. good luck t-rich!
He said he didnt want to redshift, not that he didn't want to start.
Well then he shouldn't run so fast.
Gets +1 from physics nerds
hey good write up at the JCB, but are you ever gonna write something else at the WLA?
He has tweeted explaining his intentions behind his tweet yesterday. Saying he was showing confidense not cockiness, etc.
Also, that he learned his lesson about what to put out on social media. Many never learn this.
Let's lay off. He's going to be a great Wolverine. I like his edge. He is going to compete.
the kids going to be a stud, just needs to put the phone down once in awhile
sounds like he needs to mature and recognize.
I made a thread about it last night. It was deleted promptly. My take is that the kid has fire and passion. He will be a great Wolverine.
Also, his original tweet seems to have been deleted. I think it was more of a statement about his passion than a demand, I think that people responding to him on twitter upset him.
I pulled a thread about this yesterday, but I guess if 97.1 is reporting it, we may as well discuss it.
Richardson tweeted (essentially) that he wanted to start, and that if they start talking about a redshirt, "it's a wrap." He then followed up a few minutes ago with this:

I'm glad that you pulled the thread. When it was originally tweeted he was obviously misunderstood. I still feel bad about posting it because he seems like a good kid with a sincere desire to be a great Wolverine.
Unfortunately for him, the rest of the world is not as level headed as most on this blog.
HAHAHA Terry Richardson's punctuation and sentence structure is mostly almost as bad as mine.
When people used to say "text messaging is destroying the English language," I scoffed. With Twitter, now I understand where they were coming from... and they may be right. #GetOffMyLawn
I hate twitter for this very reason. I actually heard today that the dept of education is considering removing cursive writing from grade school curriculum and I was about ready to turn my back on the world.
but cursive is retarded, why on Earth would you want that to still be taught?
The hardest part about the GRE is the paragraph they make you write in cursive before you begin the test. I'm glad that part wasn't timed.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you are either in high school or an engineer. Other than that there's really no excuse for that. It's part of the English language and has been around for hundreds of years. Do you want your kids to have to use a translator to read a letter from their grandmother?
Well I mean there is a 140 character limit. I can't send a whole lot on my BB.
Based on what I think I'm reading, I hope he brings the attitude. As long as he's respectful, I think it's more of a fire (the good internal motivation kind) than anything else.
Now that it is out there, he's gonna have to back it up with hard work and perseverance. Either he makes the field because he carries that through practice every week, or he doesn't. If he does, it's all good because that means we've got a solid guy out there. If he doesn't, then he's got something to continue to work towards.
He's all Blue. Can't wait for him and the rest of the 2012 studs to get here. (And I'm looking at you, too, Diamond, Wright, Reeves and the as of yet unknown top 10 guy who will be the big surprise.)
After checking the board 3 times I went to the moderator action area and didn't see it there either so I was a little confused and even more intrigued that 97.1 may have completely jacked things up.
Unless he's going to div 3 that is a ridiculous statement so I didn't think it meant much. Apparently he cleared it up and it's all done. Good.
I believe it was called "T Rich getting chippy" or something like that. It was a fair topic before, but something I would prefer to keep off the board unless it became a thing.
Is reason to keep it OFF the board.
to do S & C - I suspect he will have either a new-found attitude when he hits the practice field, or we will have a kick-ass DB who has proved his resolve and is going to earn a starting spot.
And yes, get the whole story, not just the single tweet. I think we should use twitter to black-ball people. After all, if they plan to be Michigan Men, they should be able to convey all of their thoughts in 140 characters.
Its very difficult to ascertain tone from tweets and other internet posts. This is a lesson learned daily on this very blog. He's a high school kid and I don't really think his social media musings really need to be analyzed. This was reinforced by his own claim that his Twitter is not for blogs. All in all this was an overly thought out post thats just trying to say, come on cut the kid some slack and let him be a high schooler.
why recruits expect to play immediately at a school like Michigan. I don't even like the promise of possible early playing time. The expectation should be that they'd have a year or two of development before they see significant playing time because they are being trained at the premier team in the country. You have to put in your time at such a place and then you graduate All-Big Ten or All-American and high in the draft as your predecessor did.
This is why we shouldn't stalk high school kids. Do you know how many things I said without thinking when I was 17 years old? Thank God we didn't have twitter and facebook back then.
I don't even follow the kid on twitter and I saw it. It was re-tweeted by someone else and it really caught my eye. He certainly does have people stalking him for sure, but I'm not one of them. The biggest problem with twitter is the same thing that makes it a wonderful social tool - the degrees of separation are a lot closer than you would think they really are.
I don't know anything about twitter. I only use it as a tool to entertain me while I'm pooping.
You don't have to stalk someone to see something that they post on twitter. Once it is out there, anyone can grab it. The same thing that makes it great, makes it a nightmare. It isn't all that difficult to follow. Jim Gaffigan can re-tweet something that Courtney Love said two minutes ago. Information is spread at the speed of stupid.
bet what u wldve said wldnt top some of yuri wrights tweets. yikes. hope he doesnt kiss his mom with tht mouth...errr thumbs
I read this thread because I thought "Richardson Tweet" was going to commit.
That would be one of the most internet-ready names EVAH.
"your" should be spelled "ur". silly
Chalk it up to being a HS senior. I can only imagine what I would have tweeted if it existed in the late 90s. Can't wait to see t-rich on the field.
Don't worry, T-Rich. We're glad to have you on board.
NO MORE HIGH SCHOOL TWITTER FOLLOWING!!!
please Trich become the sweet midget corner we thought BooBoo was going to be, enough W/ the tweets everyone freaks out over.
I've said it before and I'll say it again I wish T-Rich would give up on the tweeting.
And trying to decipher what high school kids are trying to convey, using said social media network, sucks even more. No disrespect, and my opinion probably sucks as well to many, but I just don't love the concept of following teenagers and latching on to their words. When something controversial is tweeted (I hate myself for even typing that word), and this happens frequently enough, a drama filled soap opera begins in discussing said tweet; nobody wins.
"Stupid as stupid does." Why keep posting his tweets?
This was a good post. Keep it up.
same thread got deleted yesterday.
Maybe someone can make him aware of the last Cass Technician DB who went a bit "head strong". And dare I say Big Will has some huge shoes to fill next yr. So perhaps the Technician alumns should tone it down just a bit...eh? On the field guys...ON the field.
Or shut up. This is not little boy football. There are hundreds of young men playing this game that are as good or better than TR. Making demands like this are foolish, if in fact he made them. I am tired of these high school kids who are big fish in little ponds talking like they are college All Americans. Come and play and if you can cut it I'll listen.
its pretty immature, but its to be expected from someone his age. a kid like this takes a look at all the offers he's gotten (alabama, lsu, oklahoma, usc, michigan, just to name a few), and wonders how he wouldn't get playing time. he'll learn pretty quick that mattison's going to make him earn every minute that he's out on the field, no matter how good he thinks he is.
but like i said, though, its a level of immaturity thats almost to be expected. i have no doubt that he'll be a great addition to our secondary.
The kid clarified what he meant and backed off the "wrap" part. Let him be. He's under a good coach at Cass Tech and by the time he leaves Michigan he will be both a player and person the University can be proud of.
Whatever. He'll have to make his first tackle against a kid who's not going to lay down for him then reality will hit him either good or bad. What kid doesn't come in to college picturing themselves as a first game starter? Especially these days.
I don't know if he's going to start, but I could definitely see him get some playing time if he works hard the next six months to put on a little bit of weight. Mattison does like to use some Nickel packages, so Richardson could be deployed as a ballhawking nickel back. I think it's unlikely that he becomes a starting corner right away with Floyd and Countess on it with several other experienced players ahead of him.
Terry may be confident or even arrogant and I liked that, but he's going to have to earn his spot. There's a lot to learn as far as defense at the college level. He won't be able to rely as heavily on his instincts.
I think he'll be a good one though.
....but I sort of like the idea of having another Wolverine that's got some fire in their attitude, and as long as said fire is used to benefit the school and team and directed at our opponents, I can grow to like this kid. He just has to pass the "Point Test",I would imagine, and get playing time so he can back up the fire with data.
I'm glad he cleared things up, and if his explanation is the truth then I love it. I like that his goal is to start from Day 1. Show us something TRich, nothing wrong with confidence.
then they shouldn't tweet, fergodsakes. These kids don't understand what the word "social" means in "social media." Twitter and FB are public forums; it is literally impossible to prevent what you're writing and posting from making it into the outside world, and it's ridiculous to expect that the outside world won't pay attention. It's like putting up a huge billboard on your front porch and then getting irritated when people comment about what's on the billboard. If you don't want people to misinterpret your tweet, then don't fucking tweet. It's that simple.
....so I guess this is coming down then:
I don't mind this at all.
Sorry if I missed it in another thread or in this one, but what did 97.1 say about the tweet? I bet they had a field day over it if the news broke during Valenti and Foster.
