Is Rich Rodriguez the Michigan version of Charlie Weis and John L Smith?

Submitted by WolverineEagle on

Granted, he isn't 500 pounds and doesn't slap his star players, but looking at his first two teams, there is an noticeable similiarity.

He is an offensive "genius" like Weis and Smith. But also like those forgettable two, his teams play very little defense.

Unless Gerg can turn around the defense, RichRod will share the same fate as the aforementioned duo---unemployed.

Offense maybe Rich's calling card, but it will the defense that will define his tenure at UM.

Are we really going to have the lack-of-depth, three-coordinators-in-three-years, young-players-starting-over-regressing-return-players arguments again?

What answer are you looking for? No one hear is going to agree or answer yes. Yes the defense has struggled, but we have already discussed this and we seem to be heading in a direction that will show improvement.

One of the biggest downsides of missing a bowl game will be the constant "will Rich Rodriguez succeed at Michigan" threads (in all variety of forms) that we will endure during the offseason. It almost makes me miss the days when we all argued about why Rodriguez recruits only three -star players.

I am a diehard UM fan who is disturbed by the lack of success under Richrod.

Yes, the team has improved. But considering how awful the Big Ten is, 1-7 should be bother anyone who has followed UM football for any length of time.

Note that I did not call for him to be fired or went off on a irrational rant. All I did was to make a comparison to coaches at two of UM's biggest rivals.

I hope to God that he proves to be different, but I am becoming concerned that RichRod is a titanic flop. That is all that I wished to express.

version of Poole1Dan?

Yeah, and the difference between Weis and Rodriguez being labeled offensive genius is that RICH RODRIGUEZ ACTUALLY HAS A PROVEN COLLEGE TRACK RECORD.

I normally, don't call people names, but you are a fucking retard.
