Rich Rodriguez discussion on The Herd

Submitted by bdneely4 on

I know a lot of you around these parts are not too fond of Colin Cowturd, but I was listening to his show today and he had about a 10 minute segment stating that Rich Rodriguez is not happy at the University of Michigan.  He stated he spoke with several of his contacts over the weekend and this seems to be a buzz that continues to spread.  Does anyone else know anything regarding this?  I hate to take too much out of what Cowturd says, but I do not like him saying something like this about the coach of a team I have so much passion for.

I really hope nobody out there takes anything Colin Cowherd says seriously.  Calling him a blowhard would be disrespectful to actual blowhards.

Oh, and just for the hell of it: FUCK ESPN.

The whole he has to win or he is probably gone is not exactly "new" information nor is it a "hot" rumor at all

I'm pretty sure anyone who truly follows this program know that Rich Rod has to win this year or the odds of a year 4 are probably pretty slim.

I am also pretty sure that most of us do believe that Harbaugh it 1st on the last of replacements as well.

All Colin did was repeat what most of us have believed since the final whistle of the 2009 season.

Like people said earlier if he can get michigan fan to call in and respond and get more listeners out of this then he did his job well whether you like him or not.

Put me in the small camp of those who don't think that Jimmy Hairball will be #1 on David Brandon's list. Brandon has never made a secret of how much he respected Bo Schembechler, and JH directly impugned Bo's integrity on academics. I don't think Brandon is going to take that lightly.

I hope it's all a moot point anyhow, since I want RR to succeed.

I find this odd seeing how last week Cowherd was all about Michigan covering the Vegas over/under win total of 7 and praised RR for sticking to his guns. Maybe his source talked to RR, I don't know, around the time Michigan was amid Athletic Department anarchy. RR will be happy when Michigan runs wild on all who had their laughs over the last two years.

I think RR will stay through thick and thin. I feel like he has a loyalty to the program and wouldn't leave. Even for more money? What's a better job than Michigan? Happy or unhappy I think he wants to prove the doubters wrong. The whole team is motivated to crack some heads this year.

Go Blue, Go RR.

He also had a close inside source that said on the morning of The Decision that he had been assured that Lebron would go to the Knicks.  Cowherd's sources appear to suck.

I'm sure I'll get banned for this post, but whatever. Insecure folks can't stand hearing the truth.

Of course DickRod is unhappy. Why wouldn't he be? He went from nation's hottest up and coming head coach to national laughing stock almost instantly. And considering Lane Kiffin is still bumping around, that's quite the accomplishment.

Just watch the man during press conferences. There is nothing about him that exudes confidence. His body language, his awkward and insincere sense of humor, his clumsy responses, and his miscalculated efforts on how to handle and embrace the Ohio St rivalry. Coach, when somebody asks you if you want to keep playing Ohio St, you don't respond with "Sure," as if you were asked for a coffee refill.

But I'm sure none of that is very convincing if you've got the Maize & Blue denialist glasses on. So we'll examine the facts, instead, which would undoubtedly depress even the best of men:

8-16 combined record
Worst single season record in program history
Combined 1-5 record against rivals MSU, ND, and OSU
Zero bowl appearances
Mired in cheating scandals, NCAA violations, and constant negative PR

Furthermore, DickRod won just a single Big Ten game last year. Against Indiana. Indiana. The conference's traditionally worst team. And he needed 4th quarter help from the refs in order to accomplish even THAT much.

How could that be? It appears for as much flack as the Big Ten gets from the national media, it's still a tad tougher than the Big East. Sorry, coach...what was once an effective, innovative, fun, and quirky little offense, is now just another fleeting gimmick that isn't successfull week in, week out in a legitimate conference versus legitimate defenses. Traditional offenses dominate this league, and that won't change anytime soon.

But what about the actual team he's returning? The tussling over Shoelaces, another true frosh, and Tater Tot is a problem, and not of the good variety.

The defense? BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Lastly, there's the sobering realization this could likely be his last year, unless he pulls a miracle season out of his ass. Then what? The next grave chapter of his career kicks in as a has-been circling the head coaching drain willing to accept any offer thrown his way.

Pull your heads out of your asses already.
