Rich Rod vs Harbaugh - What it really comes down to
this is a great occassion to press the red button
I think it was still to keep RR.
I think this is one of the most constructive threads yet, and I'm only partially sarcastic...
Which is really sad.
Upshot-Knothole Grable: the first-ever artillery-fired atomic projectile. Fired from a 280-mm cannon.
Hard Ballz. I think we can go with that.
No, it would be better to say the team has Har"balls" of Steel.
I would stick to the Cincinnati/Pittsburgh game if I were you.
Perhaps you should stick to just watching football...
and step away from the button, just step away. nobody wants to get hurt today...
I really want RR to stay, but this would not be high on my list of reasons why.
don't post again
eh, this thread is still better than Big East football.
Jimmy "Hardball" Stanzi
I could go for some chicken nuggets right about now. Anyways, what were you saying?
Maybe you should be working on Brady Hoke nicknames as well.
I agree -- everthing is Hokie Dokie. Get it? The Hokes on you. Maybe this is a (Brady) bunch of crap.
of Llyod Brady Jokes?
Llyod Hoke Brady?
What it really comes down to is that Rich Rodriguez is still our coach.
Being forced to perform parental duties and help my son with some bathroom issues. I stopped, thinking this might be a better use of my time than being forced to smell his poop. I was wrong.
you said doodies.
I agree that DB is taking his time considering the implications of possible coaches's nicknames on the football program. This is why he will not review RR until after the bowl game. It takes a while to ponder the effect of the coach's nickname on the program and JH has not been assigned a unique moniker thus far. I think you missed a major angle. Often nicknames are not simple derrivations of a given name. This is why Wayne Gretzky is not know as Wayne Wayne G.
JH has a reputation for fisticuffs. Maybe a nickname like BullyBaugh or the Coachinator would work. Also RichRod has taken the offense to another level. So maybe Shredder or Rip n' Run Rod would be a better nickname. There is much to consider and, though it may cost many good recruits, I am happy the DB (the Procrastidecider) is taking his time to with this important issue. Hopefully DB is consulting with W. the former POTUS. No matter what you thought of his politics, you have to agree the man knew his way around a nickname.
Jim "I never lost to Ohio State or Notre Dame" Harbaugh
Go Blue !
“Every sport I’ve got a whole protocol set up where you do a complete review of all aspects of the program, and we don’t only look at the head coaches and the assistant coaches,” Brandon said. “We look at the trainers, the doctors, the strength and conditioning staff, the equipment managers, we look at all aspects of the program to see where we’re getting it right and where we’re getting it wrong.
“If there are things we can correct by training and investment, we will do it. If there are things we have to correct by personnel changes, we’ll do that, too.”
If Harbaugh does get hired, I imagine this blog will be inundated with mind-numbingly large numbers of Jimmy jokes from that epic Seinfeld episode.
Jimmy can jump high. Jimmy can coach the defense. Jimmy was a former quarterback.
You get my drift. In other words, Jimmy doesn't need a nickname.
Thanks for "really" debating the issue. To think it took this long for this to be done is shocking. Bravo, my friend. Bravo.
Harbs works just fine.
Count me as a rider on the Harbaughndwagon (trademark pending). I know this means there may not be front seats available on the Coach Rod bandwagon should the Harbaughndwagon not leave the station for UM country. It is a risk you run when trying to travel standby via bandwagons.
My $.02 on the nicknames while I'm here:
- Harby (like, Mmmmmmm I'm thinking Harby's)
- JimLoMoBo (ties the whole lineage together)
- Coach Whatsyerdeal
awesome thread...impressively original content
I may have gas.
EDIT: Yes. Definitely. I DO have gas. That's the last time I wake up at 1:30am and have a big bowl of Grape Nuts.
If I had a nickel for every time I said that. Grape Nuts always seem like a good idea post-1AM.
post-1am grape nut consumption means being ripped awake by gas pains. pre-1am grape nut consumption means yummy, yummy grape nuts in my tummy.
Although both comments did make me laugh out loud, or so they say.
Harbs and Harballs are the names of choice on the farm.
How about "Drunkie McPuncherpants"?
Can you tell I am not a Harbaugh to Michigan fan?
All we know is that the AD is going to stick to his timetable to discuss the season with our coach after it is over. That means to me that the current internet and MSM sign is that all the noise and hoopla is a lot of hand-wringing over nothing. The AD and the coach will discuss what to do next and the AD will formalize in writing during the review what he has been telling the coach all along all season long.
That's how real companies that have been successful over time and real executives who have been successful over time operate. This is all about teaching the MSM, our fan base, our players, and our entire athletic department about how the ship is going to be run by DB going forward in all sports, not just football.
That's the kind of intelligent and professional personnel management I would expect from a man with DB's education and experience. Contrast that with Goss and Martin's handling of various situations relating to coaches over the past decade or so......
I do like the fact that DB has an in charge attitude and sticks to his word. However, most AD's either fire head football coaches or give them a vote of confidence immediately after the regular season. DB has done neither and has left RR and staff twisting in the wind. A vote of confidence at this time would remove uncertainty and help recruiting. Firing the coach would allow RR and staff to begin looking for employment for next year and allow Michigan to begin its coaching search. It looks like DB is stringing RR along while he tries to finalize a deal with JH and biding his time until the buyout becomes cheaper. This is not a good way to treat an employee and may affect the willingness of other coaches to work for the UM athletic department. I'm not sure who you work for, but if you boss planned to fire you, I'm sure you would rather he went ahead and did it rather than wait until it was legal to give you less severance pay and your successor had been found.
I have lots of people that work for me, and I report to a CEO. The good ones that are successful and have shown true leadership give you feedback and pointers on a daily basis. If they have an issue with something, you know it right away. DB strikes me as that kind of professional from his time in the real world at Domino's based on conversations with people who worked for him.
We will get to see who is right or wrong in another 30 to 45 days or so. Thanks for the intelligent feedback and response. That's how a board filled with Michigan graduates should function!
Harbie fully loaded?
Jim "Rich Rod" Harbaugh
How about, Jim?
DB and M Fan Base are learning that success in the corporate world does not always translate to success in Major College Athletics. DB's stubborn time table is causing us to lose recruits and leaving RR twisting in the wind. Not a good way to treat any coach...whether you like and support him or not. A good leader makes the call and moves on...
will take the time necessary to make the best decision possible. I don't think RR is twisting in the wind. Brandon said he would evaluate the program after the season. Just because every Tom, Dick and Harry are talking about RR being fired doesn't mean that Brandon should change the way he does things. RR knows the evaluation process as I'm sure Brandon has talked to him about it. I want my leader to make the best decision for the program and not just make a call to make sure Ring19 can sleep well at night.
is bad leadership. Has it occurred to you that more important things might be at stake here than a few high school athletes? Did that cross your mind, for even a second?
You have no clue what's driving this process. Just shut up, rabble, and let qualified people do the thinking.
Which recruit have we lost? Dee Hart's alleged decommitment is far from confirmed.
DB knows this, I'd imagine. He seems to be making a point. If he were confident in RR, there'd be absolutely zero reason to drag this out. He's waiting to negotiate with/hire JH. If that doesn't work out, RR stays. So he's giving himself wiggle-room.
Jimmy Eat World. Ya dig?
the bong water
Since he pulled his stunt AFTER Bo died, how about Jimmy No-Nuts?
1) I'd love to neg you, but my mgopoints are way too valuable
2) Jimmy No Nuts? I've heard quite a few buckeyes are his bitch. Buckeyes are nuts, afterall.
Based on all the hype from the old guard.....It would simply be ....... Jim Bo ,.
