Devin would probably be a better a limited-package qb and I would think it would be more important (crucial even) for Avery to excel on the defensive side of the ball given our needs in the secondary.

I really hope Devin gets a redshirt so he will have two years of eligibility once Tate Forcier is done being a three time Heisman winner.

I guess I figured they would red-shirt Gardner and if Avery is as smart as they say maybe he can do a little bit of both, particularly if he's not going to be starting for a few years. It would be a way of getting him on the field.

Can Avery play either safety positions? I'm pumped about Dorsey but I really wanted Parker as I felt he could contribute right away and shore up safety w/ Woolfolk.

Why would they have Avery, or any new recruit learn a package QB when we have Denard?
February 4th, 2010 at 4:21 AM ^
I would rather have Avery learn the CB position. We need to have more competition and depth at DB.

When Rodriguez says that they're going to start him at corner, I take that to mean that he could play safety or wide receiver, too, at some point. I highly doubt that they have plans to use him as a quarterback. It's tough enough to play on one side of the ball in the Big Ten, but to learn defense AND learn the most difficult position on the field is a bit far-fetched.

Don't you think we have enough QB's already? Besides, guys switch positions from high school to college football all the time, especially quarterbacks.

How great it it that a legitimate argument can be made that we do have enough QB's.
Fade away 2008.... fade away.

Why bring in a DB who was recruited as a DB and you want to talk about putting him in at QB when we have Shoelace who runs circles around him on top of signing and enrolling the best dual threat QB in the class.

In fairness to Avery, his numbers as a high school quarterback were significantly better than Denard Robinson's. Robinson might be faster and more athletic, but I think any of us would be jumping the gun to assume that he's a better quarterback than Courtney Avery.

this long without someone touching "...will try Avery at multiple positions."
Not one, single, solitary: "That's what she said."? Or "I'd like to try (insert hot babe) at mulitple positions."?
What's up, fellow MGoBloggers? A little too early for ya? :p

New recruits get a reprieve on the sexually charged till after spring ball.

Last I knew, Avery made All State Ohio, at QB?
February 4th, 2010 at 9:15 AM ^
Frankly, I'd see Conelius Jones getting a small package at QB before Avery since he will at least start working at QB full time.
