Rich Rod Must Cure Cancer to Save Job!

Submitted by Shalom Lansky on

First the media consensus was Rich Rod needed to show improvement to keep his job. Then, he needed to make a bowl. Yesterday Pat Caputo said Rich Rod will lose his job if he loses to Western. Today, Drew Sharp suggests that Michigan not only needs to beat Western but beat them by AT LEAST 3 TDs. With each day that goes the media's demands on Rich Rod increase. As the leaders and best I say we top their petty requirements and send out a mandate that Rich Rod must cure cancer by the end of the season to keep his job.

Seriously, what the hell is everyone thinking? If Michigan fires Rich Rod mid-season who would take over? One of the guys that he brought here from WVU? No way, they are more loyal to him than they are to Michigan. If the firing comes at the end of the season and a new coach brings in a new system, then he inherits a bunch of undersized players not suited for his system and again Michigan is stuck in neutral, destined for another few years of sub-standard football. Keeping Rich Rod, even if this year doesn't go as well as hoped, is still the fastest path to redemption.

I've been seeing that kind of nonsense build as well. It seems like sports journalism has gone the way of news jounalism and the only thing that matters is sensationalism, preferrably the bad kind. I have expectations that we will improve this year and kind of hope that we somehow explode out of the gates and do even better than that. I am also now a strong RR supporter. I'm not even sure when that happened but it did.

Rosenpuke took over Sharp's "resident idiot" position in the sports department. So, Sharp will now be even more inflammatory with less evidence than he has ever been. I'm guessing that his journalism teachers all wish they had failed him while they had the chance.

Any teacher's worst nightmare is to have one of their former students make it into the field and be as flambouyantly terrible as Sharp.

Entertainment doesn't need to be true, or even pleasant. All it has to do is make money. It just has to get views. Please tell me you aren't going to their site or subscribing to their paper to get this information. If you are, you are feeding the troll. They don't care if you disagree with them, you are making them money!

from WDFN (yeah, he's there now) before Rich Rodriguez is fired from Michigan.

And Pat Caputo might eat the radio station before Rich Rod gets fired, too. God knows he's on the air enough.
