I am listening to the Herd and he just said Rich Rodriguez will be on the show after the break. You can listen to it here http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/index - Just click on listen live. I would guess he is on around 12:45p.
Rich Rod on the Herd
You can also watch on ESPNU..
I didn't think RR said anything that we hadn't previously heard. But Cowherd was slobbing all over RR. Cowherd told RR that he "is the best thing to happen to the Big 10."
cowherd is on the same level as skip bayless, jim rome, and a few other analysts who's names are not worth being mentioned, much less capitalized.
I like Jim Rome. He makes no bones about being a SoCal guy; if you take that into account and factor in where he's coming from, he can be very funny.
And there's this:
.............................wow, what a great interview. We just had Eli Manning on........................................................in case you missed it, he told me, "We have to win football games" Amazing interview. Let's go to the phones:
"Yeah Jim...that interview was amazing. All you New York Giants haters out there...watch out, we comin for YOU!!"
........................'All you New York Giants haters out there'....rack em. Amazing interview with Eli Manning just happened. What a great interview. When we come back, we're going to take more of your calls and then we're going to talk about that great interview with Eli. You're in the jungle.
........ And now, lets go to the Jim Rome Mail Bag...... First letter.....
....... Wow... Great email!
I have to call em like I see em.
+1, well played sir!
Thanks for the clip, I haven't seen it in years. Rome doesn't back down and pays the price.
Actually Cowherd has been pro Michigan as of late. The last couple of days I have listened he has said that people should lay of Rich Rod and that he is a great coach and will do great things at Michigan.
Given the results of the two games of the season, what else could he say?
Criticize Michigan players for not shaking ND players hands?
Bash Michigan Coaches for not declining Big Ten ref's biased calls?
Slam Michigan AD for not upgrading the stadium sooner?
- end of sarcasm -
Cowherd is the same jerk whose response to the Freep allegations was, "Hey Michigan, you're cheating and still losing to Toledo and App St.?"
anyone have a summary of what RR said for those of us unable to watch/listen?
that Cowherd is now positive about Michigan when he has spent the last three years, if not longer, crucifying Michigan.
I'm not a fan of Cowherd, but it was a good interview.
In Cowherd's defense he was hard on Michigan for the past few years for the same reasons he is currently hard on Ohio State, Penn State and the other "top tier" Big 10 programs. He feels, as many people do, that the entire conference is falling behind the curve. He is now praising Michigan because they hired an innovative coach with some style and some spunk to inject the conference with a little bit of life. I listen to The Herd pretty frequently and I have never really known him to be a hypocrite and he will admit when he is proven wrong. He crucifies the entire conference because it is lagging behind the curve of college football, and to be honest, I think it's hard to disagree with that statement when you look at style of play and the conference's results against other quality opponents.
people on the radio that I can stand. I'll listen to Sam in the morning and stalk Brian for random appearances and that's about it.
Cowherd goes out of his way to put people on edge, like a more-talented version of Valenti. Couple that with how Colin handled the "borrowing" of MZone material and it's a miracle that I even caught the interview.
That said, Cowherd's man-crush on Rodriguez was pretty strong today and it was nice to see Rodriguez getting some media love for a change.
Cowherd was gushing about RR yesterday. Like him or not, as one poster above said, his problem with the Big 10 is that it's teams are (in his mind) still playing the same game of the late 80s and early 90s.
He was extremely complimentary yesterday, raved about coaching adjustments, pointed out the third quarter dominance by Michigan, and was extremely high on the future.
Cowherd isn't worth listening too. It's nice that he's complimenting us, but he's just not a good analyst and his opinion carries very little weight with me.
Look at the top of the standings. That's who Cowherd "likes".
