Rich Rod Calling the UCF-Southern Miss. game right now

when everyone kept on losing.

So where's RR going to coach next year? Any thoughts? Suppose we should make this thread useful..
November 12th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
I was going to post this exact thread...he's doing a VERY good job. Very charismatic.
...it made me think. Say we won the next couple games. WHEN we win the next couple of games. I think it would be nice to invite Rich Rod back to surprise the guys during a practice. It would help mend Hoke's message of a fractured fanbase. I think it would go a long way for Rich Rod to know he was welcome back and we do appreciate him giving his all...just didn't work out for him and wasn't a good fit.
November 12th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
i suppose it's a nice thought -- but it'd NEVER happen.
November 13th, 2011 at 12:49 PM ^
Why not?
November 12th, 2011 at 9:44 PM ^
mean?
November 12th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
He talked about how our fanbase was fractured and how he was embarrassed by it. How Rich Rod never had the full support of the Michigan fanbase, how we were/are split, etc.
From day 1 he's put an emphasis on MICHIGAN. i.e. THIS IS MICHIGAN! He never says "Hoke's team" and his assistants don't call it "their" offense/defense.
November 12th, 2011 at 9:47 PM ^
That would be off-the-charts crazy (not necessarily in a bad way). I'd actually like to see Hoke do that. He has a mind of his own and I'm sure he wouldn't feel threatened by RichRod's presence.
I'd be surprised, though. I think Brandon has one of these attached to everyone to keep them "on message" >>>

The fanbase isn't really fractured anymore, mostly because the crybaby camp (Lloyd Loyalists) got what they wanted and the RR supporters gritted their teeth and pledged to be supportive to not have a repeat. Basically, how people who love Michigan would be expected to act.
November 13th, 2011 at 8:46 AM ^
I'm so glad the RR fans are able to grit their teeth through an 8-2 season. Because those "crybabies" woudn't have done the same thing with a similar record.
November 13th, 2011 at 9:04 AM ^
Considering those two losses are to MSU and Iowa, my sense is that people would still be bitching.
But again, yeah for winning.
November 13th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
No one is gritting their teeth through an 8-2 season. The teeth gritting was disappointment at RR's firing and RR's opponents getting their way, but recognizing that the important thing for the team was not to let that cloud our support for Michigan's coach. We supported RR because he was Michigan's coach, not the other way around. His detractors couldn't bring themselves to do that even at 5-0. They enjoyed the wins, but could never give credit or support to the coach.
November 13th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
8-2 is about what I would expect from our talent level (pretty decent) with our schedule (the weakest it's been since maybe the Big 2, Little 8 days). It didn't happen the way I expected it to (offense struggling more than anticipated, defense WAY above and beyond what I thought) but that record makes sense all things considered.
And those crybabies sure as hell didn't wait until November of any season to start their kicking and screaming.
November 14th, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
Quit crying already or you will be lumped in with the Lloyd Loyalist Crybaby Club. Not is that what you want? Didn't think so. Toughen up toughen up, keep your lip buttoned up (little Elvis Costello for you!).
November 13th, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
you could not be anymore correct with this statement, the RR supporters know how moronic some of the haters were being. The RR supporters know you always have to support the coach.
November 12th, 2011 at 9:50 PM ^
Think how good of a fit RR would be for UCF. Is O'leary getting shit-canned?
November 12th, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
Now that there has been some time and distance, that would be pretty neat. I'd love to have Rodriguez and Borges bounce some ideas off each other as well.
Then we should all probably find a deep dark fallout shelter and wait for the end.

"I invented that play...and that play..."

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by how good he is.
November 13th, 2011 at 7:50 AM ^
I'm not surprised at all.
November 12th, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
UCF and Southern Miss are my second favorite teams
November 12th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Anyone remember when we recruited him?
November 12th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Oh...and Leilon Willingham, the LB and (obviously) Jeff Godfrey play for UCF too.
November 13th, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
Can someone explain how this is flamebait?
That is fucking ridiculous.
The first post was because Rich Rod has mentioned J-Rob 19 times on one drive, it was funny. That's all.
The second was just a REAL update on guys that we recruited, that landed at UCF.
Do I get negged for saying McGuffie ended up at Rice?
...what a joke of a poster to whoever did that. I rarely get bent out of shape over negs, but that is just plain dumb. Nothing was wrong it was all good conversation.
November 13th, 2011 at 11:51 AM ^
Why? To get this reaction out of you. Thanks. It's the same reason everyone would neg people like Bouje. The reactions are priceless.
November 14th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
You're a clown. Period.
November 12th, 2011 at 11:43 PM ^
A great game.
November 13th, 2011 at 12:06 AM ^
He's great. Have any one of you watched inside college football. I watch for him, he is hilarious.
November 13th, 2011 at 2:05 AM ^
But he's no Matt Millen!
disclaimer: I didn't watch a second of that game.
November 13th, 2011 at 9:05 AM ^
RR knows football, and it is clear he knows how to communicate that well. It didn't work out at UM, but he's a smart guy who can break down an offense as well as anyone. I'm happy that he had a chance to call a couple of games and showcase what he can do; I expect him to be coaching again by next season.
November 13th, 2011 at 9:18 AM ^
last week, and it was the first time I had seen him on TV since the surreal moment they had him interview Brady Hoke. He was very at ease and I think was being featured by the producers -- he always was given the last word, such as making the final prediction for each match-up. He was more entertaining and insghtful than most of the ex-coaches on the football programs. I bet he returns to TV after his next coaching gig.
