Rematch with Penn State.
Rematch with Wisconsin
Likely rematch with Indiana
Close it all with MSU/OSU.
Lets do this
As Blutarski said, LET'S DO IT!
...bomb Pearl Harbor.
I want to see "revenge" in the championship game of the NCAA Tourmament.
sometimes i hate being a fan... so damn painful
I try not to let it affect my mood for the rest of the day but it does. Losing sucks, plain and simple. Lets win the B1G tourney!
If they take care of business, Michigan has a chance to get revenge for what we just witnessed, and the garbage buzzer beater.
Lets all take a moment to be thankful that when we meet Indiana in the semis it will actually be a neutral court game instead of a de facto home one in Indy. At least the B1G did something right by moving the BTT to Chicago this year.
At least MSU & Ohio didn't get a share of the BIG title.
Ohio State's had the last three. No need to be greedy.
Who would you rather have them play right now other than PSU, Wisconsin, and IU? That's great.
Agreed, but then we have to also play MSU/OSU. We have four games in four days. that's f'n tough.
Please keep rooting for this team. They need you!
...including wins against OSU and MSU.
You're saying that two free throws would change your perspective that much?
If Burke/Morgan hits a routine free throw, you'd be jumping for joy and singing of how despite getting outrebounded, we fought hard against one of, if not, the best teams in the country and came out on top.
39 minutes of the game we just watched = what I've seen from this team that makes me think they'll prove you wrong.
why are you watching and posting about it on a message board.
go back to RCMB scrub. By the way ,wasn't it hilarious the way Drake Harris crapped on your team?
Wanna bet? Internet points or something?
Your post sucks more.
You went to the trouble of registering an account today just to tell us you don't care?
Troll alert! Go back to whatever board you came from
Do they switch refs for this tournament?
lets not blame the refs for our best two players missing their free throws
Are you talking about Hardaway, because if so, I'd have to strongly disagree that he's our second best player. He's killed us in just about every big game other than OSU.
Thank You, Thank You
Just because our players missed their free throws does not exonerate or excuse terrible, game-changing reffing.
buzzer beaters, half court shots, Penn State, Big Ten refs, pretty much everything else in the big ten too.
Not excited. I think we make a decent run, maybe two wins, but just put more miles on the tires. As I told a friend this morning, the B1G tournament just seems anti-climatic and counter- productive.
UM. - MSU in the BTT is unlikely....again
Wow, I get the loss is still fresh, but surprised by all the negativity. Yes we have to hit those easy ones, Yes we have to hit free throws. It wasn't all bad though.
The defensive intensity/effort they had today actually makes me feel better about our tourney (the conference and the real one) chances.
As far as the bracket, we get a chance to avenge the 3 most painful losses (in my opinion) of the year, so Let's Go Blue!!!
You're suprised by the negativity when the team just missed three straight free throws to lose the Big Ten Title?
If the negativity consisted of: "DAMN FREE THROWS! AH BAD FREE THROW SHOOTING! RAWR WHY CAN'T WE MAKE FREE THROWS! ARGH!", I wouldn't be surprised.
However, for some reason the negativity I'm hearing is: "DAMN FREE THROWS! WE ARE THE WORST TEAM IN THE B1G! WE CAN NEVER CLOSE ANY GAMES! HARDAWAY IS THE WORST! CUT MORGAN! CUT MCGARY! WE'RE NOT MAKING THE TOURNAMENT ANYMORE! FIRE EVERYONE! SCRAP THE PROGRAM!"
It's safe to say the negativity has been a far-reaching overreaction.
Of course it's an overreaction. Fans are emotional and say stupid things after a gut-wrenching loss, especially with a title on the line. This has been going on for decades at every major sports program in America. The only thing that makes it worse is people trying to control it. Just let it ride for 30 minutes, and rationality will return.
We are now 100% guaranteed to not win the 2012-13 Big Ten title. Which is the whole point of the regular season. There is no tomorrow for that. And we're 12-13 days away from starting any redemption in the NCAAs. So what kind of reaction are people expecting?
about the defense. But, what scares me is the lack of boxing out and rebouding deficiency. I love this team and we have the talent to go up against anyone on the country. The only thing in our way is playing defense and boxing out. If we can do those two things, this team can be special!
3rd times a charm!
This will be fun. Burke has a chance to seal the Wooden award if Michigan has a great tournament run! Beat Penn St, Wisconson and quite possibly MSU in the final, umm yes please!
He had a chance to seal it by making those FTs against possibly the best team in the country.
If we lose to Penn State again we might as well not show up to thee tourny.
Glad to see that our fans have the teams' backs.
Time to exorcise some demons.
We need to get a B1G Tournament banner added to the collection at Crisler. We already have one, but it's buried in the basement of Bentley Library.
I want blood. Michigan, this is it. 3-0 in neutral site games. Time to protect that record and show them why you smoked a current top-10 team back at the Garden.
Maybe if we get to play Michigan State in the championship, and it's a close game, we can have one of our players run into Izzo, and finally get our technical foul call that we didn't get against Indiana or Ohio State.
THAT is what I'm talkin' about.
IU has had ALL SORTS of trouble with Minnesota this year. Would not be shocked to see Minny go through that matchup if it comes to be since IU is pretty much guaranteed a 1 and Minny will need it for seeding.
If things go as they should, a final four of sparty, ohio, IU, and us would be set.
Perfect bracket. Sets up for a run of revenge. Take out PSU, then Wicy, then Indiana and then either OSU or MSU. So long as MSU or OSU come out of the bottom of the bracket, we'll have a good chance to play 4 of the 5 teams that have beaten us this year.
This is not the worst thing in the world. The worst thing, of course, is playing that extra game. But:
Wiscy Revenge (and the team I fear least out of the Top 5).
I do expect us to win the first two games. Then... it's IU again and I would like to watch it one more time.
...hope we practice our free throws before tourney begins...but couldn't have chosen bettering up (as a 5 seed that is).
Fuck it, let's just win it.
2nd round IU will be playing a team that beat them this year.
Wisconsin will be playing a team they lucked out against.
Iowa and Purdue are playing much better late in the season.
Saturday is in question for every team in this thing.
how long before some dipshit posts a "this really is a good thing" type thread in an effort to try and convince everyone we're better off losing?
I'm giving it till 9:00.
For the showboat dunk at the end? This tem doesn't do revenge so well, turning losses into squeaker wins at best.
The Big Ten Tourney is a cash grab joke that only matters in the least if you win the whole thing and then get to hang a banner. And that chance probably become impossible with an extra game to win.
They really want some "revenge"? Go further in the NCAA Tournment than any other Big Ten team. That's our season now.
(edit: TV time wise it also looks like no one, recruit or otherwise, will even see one of our games till Saturday since we've been bounced out of primetime)
Michigan recruits Chicago in all sports, they should all just go to the game.
Yes, talking about revenge and all of that crap. It's just a way to fool ourselves that the team will be better motivated this time out which usually is never the case.
Penn State is playing well right now. I wouldn't be surprised if we laid an egg after this emotional roller coaster of a game.
1. We DESTROY Penn St by at least 30 points.
2. McGary throws the ball all the way from our side of the court for a buzzer-beating game-winner against Wisconsin. Bo Ryan responds by tackling his own mascot.
3. Morgan goes for 20+ against IU including 5 put-back dunks over Zeller. We cruise comfortably.
4. The B1G lets MSU and Ohio team up and play against Michigan in the finals. Burke goes for 40+ and 10+ steals. The halftime show is a foot-race down the floor between Ravenel and Nix. Nix wins by punching Ravenel in the crotch when the refs aren't looking. Nix then proceeds to go into the stands and punch Zeller in the crotch again. Refs are fine with this. 2nd half, Stauskas goes 12-for-12 from three and we host our tournament title while Kate Upton gives each Michigan fan in attendance a 20-second hug.
By FAR the best thing posted on MGoBlog today. We need more of these type of posts after a lose.
bravo my friend
The three teams that screwed us this year (Penn State, Wisconsin for sure, and Indiana probably) we will be playing. Lets do this.
a) win the btt and then bow out in the sweet 16
b) lose for a second time to penn st and then reach the final four (and lose)
Final Fours and National titles are what people remember. The hype of the Tourney has turned it that way for better or for worse.
The great programs do both, though.
I'd welcome a 40 point drubbing Penn State twice over if it meant we'd go to the final four.
Here would be the average probabilities of several runs of the TeamRankings algorithm as of the last update. I presume it doesn't cover today's results, but this still might be a good approximation of their model:
Even given these numbers, ours is not a bad path, I would think, especially on a neutral court, and hopefully it entails doing something to help mend some unfortunate memories.
is much tougher than bottom, where we would be (as #3 seed) if we won today PLUS we'd have a piece of B1G regular season title for 2nd year in a row so forgive me if I'm not overly excited about a potential 'revenge tour." Todays loss was HUGE,especially the way we gave it away to the biggest Douchbag coach in America.
I think Penn State is the worst possible opponent right now. I hope I am wrong.
