Reuben Foster flips from Alabama to Auburn
I thought maybe OT, but figured big news about an upcoming opponent (even though not game-related) and huge recruiting news (consensus top 5 player flips) was on-topic.
However, I'm still a bit fresh to the MGo world.
Thought this would give Michigan the #1 recuit class on 247 sports again, but nope. They still lead until they re-rank players again, or we get commit #23
USC is also right behind U-M. There is still a lot to shake out before all is said and done.
MGo world, where the keyboard elitists come to express how much more sophisticated they are than you.
He has a slightly negative interpretation of this news, but he explains it glass-half-full for it's potential upside after a thought provoking post by WIAB
Didn't this happen to Bama last year?
Last year 5-star RB T.J. Yeldon switched from Auburn to Alabama.
To make matters more interesting Foster copied Yeldon's press release.
What Yeldon said:
Over the last few weeks, I've really put a lot of time and thought into where I want to go to school and continue my football career. I am blessed to be in a situation where I have several great opportunities and I appreciate everyone involved who has helped me get to this point. I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and get to work on the things I need to do to prepare for college both athletically and academically. I am going to enroll at the University of Alabama in January. I have a lot of respect for Auburn, the coaches, and all of the people there, but at the end of the day I feel like the University of Alabama is the best situation and fit for me and my family. I am 100 percent confident with my final decision. I feel great about it and I'm excited to get started.

plagiarizing already. go SEC student-athletes!
Is that for real?
Must have been expensive for Auburn.
Foster is from Auburn so either he's been catching a lot of hell this whole time and just gave in or Auburn U has coughed up some money.
Trust me. I grew up with one of the main figures in the Cam Newton saga. Im 99% sure Cam's father got paid and this kid probably got the same treatment.
Anyone think Alabama wouldn't match?
Details now mandatory. Where's the 1% coming from?
Because I never actually saw money changing hands. Im actually related to the person Im referring to. Im not speaking distance either. We saw each other weekly for a number of years.
how big a pay day are you alleging? 6 figure?
Him to get a nice cut. Honestly for years nobody knew what he did for a living, but he always had sooo much money. To be honest when things came to light it confirmed what some family members suspected and at the same time gave relief to the other side that thought he sold drugs. Like I said, ive never seen money exchange hands but I know of a few other situations that took place just like Cams around the exact same time.
pics or it didn't happen
in all seriousness, these are serious accusations you are making. These could amount to catatrophic consequences if what you are saying is true.
Did I get that right?
The ultimate betrayal going from Bama to Auburn. Theres no turning back for this kid. I hope he has "Kalis" type thick skin and heart because the threats will reign down hard on him and his family. I hope nothing too serious comes of this news, but being from Alabama, Im 100% sure somebody is going to do something stupid. Its unfortunate...
I pray to God his family doesn't own any priceless trees.
Hide the tree poisoning guy...This kid should fear for his life.
Reports are that his family has set up a projector in their front lawn with his highlight tape on loop to scare off mere human beings.
I'm sufficiently terrified. This kid has like... Football Krav Maga. "Are you trying to tackle me?! Neck strike!"
if this kid got 180k then he got ripped off
A highlight film is just that, but he is wow.
what was that?? that kid almost killed several opponents.
He's a hitting machine.
Yeah I would be surprised if some of those quarterbacks got back up after some of those hits. That kid is a beast and will be a terror in college.
I was screaming at the ball carriers telling them to fall before Foster hits them. One of the most impressive highlight films I've ever seen on a kid. That's the defensive version of the Noel Devine videos from a few years ago.
Damn, he was their best recruit. Pretty sure we're all thinking the exact same thing, here.
I'm pumped, but honestly, I thought somehow Michigan would beat us for this kid.
You are hilarious in a "I have no idea if I can trust you" way.
I mean WDE...
so i suppose i get bama fans perusing around mgoblog since we play each other in sept, but what in the heck is an auburn fan doing on mgoblog? roll damn tide, dat u?
That's the joke. When RDT was first uncovered, he showed up as a joke. Look at his 5 posts
comes to mind. I think that backfired on them with other recruits too.
Is that Albert Means I see over yonder?
Well, the money went to Means's coach, so it may be technically correct.
Kenny Smith, on the other hand...
And Cam Newton's money went to his dad... I just assumed there was some trickle down to Means.
Bama was placed on probation for paying players about a decade ago. You must be a youngster...
This sounds just like the Cam Newton story minus the missing hat man.
Someone's getting a little defensive. I'm enjoying the ad hominems, but I don't listen to Finebaum so hat man, bag man, whatever indeed. The difference between the two cases was one was proven (Alabama) and one wasn't (Auburn). Look, I'm not naive enough to believe that Auburn is a clean program, but didn't Alabama just get off of 17 consecutive years of probation? Pot kettle black.
In 90% of all these cases A)the coaches and/or administration never know (allegedly) and B) its always some "rogue" booster. The point is a kid or his associates got paid to play for your school and you were placed on probation for it. You Bama fans are funny.
I know for a fact how fickle and crazy you guys are and I can tell a thousand storys about it. I was born and raised in Birmingham, I have family members that went to UA and AU and I worked as a vender at Legion Field when Bama played there. I know "YOU" Bama fans better than anyone. The fact that you're still in denial about something you were placed on probation for is baffling and proves my point. Had the NCAA found no fault in your program there would not have been any punishment handed down.
People may think I'm lying when I say it was common knowledge at that time Bama players received extra benefits and money for coming there. The most prominent where Im from was David "Duece" Palmer or "Pop a Cherry" (his neighborhood name for obvious reasons) who had horrible grades and like 4-5 kids when he enrolled. Honestly I believe that all major schools operate in the same manor. Maybe I was wrong for lumping you in the same category, but in general the fan base is one of the craziest in the world.
You can pretend all you want, but Foster is the #2 recruit in the nation. Auburn fans feel much differently about 1 guy making all the difference after they got 1 year of juco transfer Cam Newton. You probably should too...
that you go one a thousand word diatribe about how little you care and how little effect it will have on you and your schools football life
but this was the #2 rated player in the nation and now you have to face him while he plays for your arch-rival. Don't act like you're okay with this. I don't buy that.
is trying to be a regional power, we will never be the caliber of alabama, our conference dont allow one year scholarships and oversigning,
You don't measure success with mythical recruiting championships, but mythical national championships are just fine?
You ABSOLUTELY measure success by beating Auburn. Yeah you won a couple trophies but stop pretending like Auburn doesnt matter because you know thats priority #1A.
talk like this to guests on this board, but go the fuck away.
an Alabama fan trashing Auburn. We yankees can't tell you two apart. From my perspective its like the Judaen Peoples Front getting riled up against the People's Front of Judea.
now make it rain on dem hoes!
In all seriousness, I don't understand how Auburn is recruiting so well. They had a one-and-done national championship and past that...it's Auburn. PLUS, they lost Malzahn so what's the big draw now? WIth just Chizik at the helm, they should tank pretty quick
EDIT: On actually checking out their rivals page, they have just the 3 amazing recruits and then a lot of meh. Auburn = Clemson now
What about Ruben Foster's buddy (teammate?) Trey Mathews? I bet UGA fans are worried they will loose him to Auburn, since these two guys have been saying for the past few weeks they are going to play together in college.
Someone may wanna protect the trees...
Some of the guys he was going against appeared totally disinterested in even trying to block him. Which might have been smart from the standpoint of self-preservation.
It will be interesting to see what happens when everybody he's going against is as big and strong and fast as him.
I have seen chatter on 247 Sports about Shaq Wiggins flipping from Georgia to Auburn, which is where I first saw the Foster rumors a few weeks ago. Wiggins is no Foster, but definitely a solid talent.
Did Saban's check bounce?
gotta dig in those pockets a bit deeper Saban......
Are you Bama's starting QB or something? I can never remember your name.
You're the one who needs to be told not to get their panties in a bunch. A few posts ago, you blatantly accused Auburn of cheating and paying players for the past 30 years. Now you're flipping your lid because another random dared to suggest Alabama may be as dirty as any SEC team. You're a funny little troll.
the sec cheats, oversigns. If your so offended that nobody on this board cares abot alabamas alleged greatness,go to an alabama board with like minded folks "homeslice".
Wake up, its a fact. Not a rumor or anything else, but black and white. Try Google it works really well. The SEC voted to limit the practice last year, somewhat. Arkansas coach and Bama coach were vocal against it. Wow huge suprise!
takes Troll Tide to a whole new level. Always feel the need to get the last word in. Love how you try to convince people that the sec or bama are not buying players and oversigning. your mad bro because people on this board know better.
