Rest of season predictions

Submitted by michman79 on
Considering Hoke's road record and our two home games against Nebraska and OSU, what is a realistic outcome for the last 4 games? Road games in Iowa and Chicago. I can see it going anywhere from 0-4 to 3-1 unfortunately. Anyone who can sell me on 3-1 please do so.

After the PSU game, on a similar thread, I predicted we would go 2-4 the rest of the way, with a by the skin of our teeth win against Indiana and a thrashing of Iowa. So far, I've been spot on, so I'm not going to change my stance for the sake of continuity. What I will say though is that even though my opinion of this team is even less than what it was a few weeks ago, I will submit a secondary prediction of 3-3, as the likelihood we beat NW now is very high.

The weather in this game really hurt us, more than it did them based on their strengths and our weaknesses.

The D-line played pretty well.  I thought the O-line wasn't too bad.  As I recall it was 16-6 at the end of the 3rd and we had several shots to have an additional 11 points - would have been an even game at that point.

MSU won that game because of their D-backs, they made about 5 more plays than we did (how many balls did we drop?) and I think Gardner is late on his throws almost all the time.

We'll be fine - how many seniors are graduating that we'll really miss?  I think it's only Lewan, Schofield, and Gallon.  I'll take my chances with the kids coming in.

Besides, Nadruzzi is about to get poached (who stays at State?) so that problem will get solved shortly.

I'm pretty sure you did not watch the same game as I did. Not only is our Oline absolutely terrible, but they had what was pretty obviously their far and away worst game of the season. As for the weather, no, just no. If it affected us more than them, it's because our coaches didn't prepare them enough. And if coaches of a team based in Michigan don't know how the prepare their players to play in Michigan fall weather, you can bet their are bigger things those coaches aren't doing right during the week.

Did you actually just say the o-line and d-line didn't play that bad, and blame Gardner who took a literal beating in the same post, after a 29-6 loss? The d-line generated very little pressure all game, and the o-line was bad enough to set all the all-time worse rushing performance in school history.

Also you downplay losing three of your best players, as if it is no big deal, as the cherry on top.

Until we finally get an O Line that can block our O will continue to be horrid. That sequence where Gardner was sacked three straight times was unreal. There was no physicalness on our part.

Let's see we play @ Iowa= L @ NW= L home vs Nebraska= win home vs OSU = Win. So 2-2 until this team can win big games on the road I will go into that game expecting an L.

Michigan finishes 6-6 (2-6 in B1G), goes to the Texas Bowl in Houston's Reliant Stadium on December 27 against the Big 12's sixth pick (Kansas State or West Virginia) and gets an upset win on Brendan Gibbons' last-second field goal. . . . Taylor Lewan is not named to any of the All-American First Teams, but he’s invited to the Senior Bowl and declines the invitation on advice of his agent.  . . . Jeremy Gallon and Jibreel Black are invited to play in the East-West Shrine Game. . . . Michael Schofield and Brendan Gibbons are invited to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.  . . . No other Michigan seniors are invited to play in any post-season all-star games. . . . In January, former All-State goalie Jareth Glanda is added to the hockey team as a reserve goalie. . . . At least one member of Michigan’s 2014 recruting class de-commits, and neither Da’Shawn Hand nor Malik McDowell signs with Michigan. . . . Dave Brandon issues a stern warning to Brady Hoke and quietly begins the precautionary search for a new head coach to replace Hoke, if Michigan does not play in a 2015 BCS bowl game or win at least ten games next season.

And that's the Extreme Pessimist report for Saturday, November 2, 2013. Good Night, Good Luck and Don't Forget To Turn Your Clocks Back To 1997.

(On days like today, I should be grateful that I'm a Red Sox fan.)

A young O-line played against a damn good defense. Failed pretty badly. Is that expected? Somewhat, but the good news is that we probably won't see a defense like that this year. Defense played pretty well, missed key opportunities that came back to bite us. Offense was not terrible, but not horrendous against a spectacular D. @Iowa will be close, but a W. Vs. Nebraska- battle for 2nd place. W @NW- they look like a saltwater fish in freshwater W. Vs Ohio- did you see what the score against Penn State was?- L

Take a breath. 9-3 is not that bad. We aren't losing many impact seniors, and getting several impact freshman as Hoke has a year to implement his system.

We finish with W's over Nebraska, Iowa and Northwestern. We lose our asses to osu. We finish a fake 9-3. Make a central florida bowl and lose our ass again. Borges and Funk keep their jobs in the offseason and it costs Hoke his job two years from now. Predictable. Extremely predictable.

Please explain the system? They have no identity what so ever! Can't run...if you can't run then play action does not work. This team is lost in the woods with no compass. I feel bad for the whole Michigan family! The program is an dumpster fire next to a nitro glycerin plant. After watching this complete domination by Sparty how can you stick with sinking ship? The team is regressing. The offense looks completely lost and it's only going to get worse. The other teams left on Michigan's schedule smell blood in the water!

Against Michigan state. All of the graphics during the game showed state's D next to alabama, FSU, etc. Those are elite defenses. A patchwork OLine against alabama-caliber guys? What did we expect? Indiana results? Hoke's first quality recruiting classes are coming up now. Give them time.

We have an attitude problem. Specifically, we have a confidence problem. Where is the leadership? One of the few plays I caught live today was Lewan being a hothead like he is prone to do and cost the team 15 yards. I don't see the identity crisis of this team being fixed by seasons end.

It is a serious problem, and will not be fixed by this coaching staff. We need a head coach not a cheerleader. I like Hoke, but these teams lack leadership. Michigan has not been improving week to week. It has been a conspicuous lack of improvement. Hoke talks about winning championships, he seems to recruit pretty well, and we all know Mattison is a great DC. They're just not getting it done on the field. Bo's teams, and even Lloyd's showed improvement each week. It's not happening with Hoke. Something has to change.

Oregon or even OSU will shred them. They will be blown out.  They just happened to play a very bad Michigan team that could barely beat Akron and UCONN. We also let a lousy PSU team beat  us.  So to say they have a stellar defense is a bit of a stretch!

Not happening but if I am a former CEO which shockingly I am not. I call Mr Harbaugh and ask him to name his price. I really do like hoke but we are now looking at 6/7 bad seasons. Lloyd last season, all 3 rr seasons, and now 2 out 3 hokes seasons. I know it's college and it takes time to recover from previous regime mistakes but fuck.

Everyone wants to blame Borges but it it's hoke that keeps letting the same shit occur. We get a huge pick but on 2nd and 15 we call play action despite having minus 30 yards rushing. WTF? They should have paid the 20m Harbaugh wanted then, now it will take 30m

For all those that claim this is overreacting, we almost lost to the worst two schools in college football in consecutive weeks. Now we have lost to msu 5/6 times. Michigan football as we once knew it is dead. Come home Jimmy, save us

I was hoping JH wanted to coach college ball and would have been our next coach. I expect him to win a superbowl with SF, get bored then coach the Lion's in 10 years. He will try to get the Lion's to the superbowl but this will break him. He will be fired as Lion's coach in 2027 and then Michigan will hire him. He will turn the team around from the Hoke and Miles disasters. Then we will be NC for 10 years from 2029 through 2039. JH will then become our AD and find a great coach to replace himself.

Would have loved to win, but realistically had to know that we're not at the same level.  So given that ... this game virtually ensured that my worst nightmare (losing to Ohio two weeks in a row) will not happen.  I am grateful for that at least.

Also, I'd like to see State play Ohio.  I think they could take them on a neutral field.

Not in a right state of mind to predict what happens with us the rest of the year.
