Request for Hype Videos - Possible Competition?
There's 5 weeks until the start of Michigan Football and I feel the need for a great hype video.
We've had some tremendous ones in the past. These are my favorites: (1), (2), and (3).
Any way we could hold a competition for the best one of 2014? Could we do a Kickstarter to raise prize money, or does someone have really awesome tickets they could donate to the winner?
Those three are all good, though I would rank them in reverse order. And the only reason the '09 gets a vote at all is because of the originality...even the highlights from '08 seem empty.
Yes, would love more hype videos from the MGoCommunity...no, not willing to pay.
There was one posted on here, I think going into the 2012 season that was the best thing I'd ever seen. Used that Ennio Morricone song from all the old Spaghetti Westerns. Absolutely amazing.

He had less exciting material to work with that year, admittedly. I remember there being an inordinate number of cheerleader shots because 2012 was a pretty bland year for footage. His video editing skills, whoever this guy is, are just superlative.
Yeah, 2012 sort of sucked, but these were 2011 highlights.

I love hype videos. And , I know how hard it is to make them and it would be my honor to donate 2 tickets to a winner of a contest.
I would donate two section 2 row 30 something tickets (40 yard line) for any game except PSU and Maryland. Or, 2 tickets to MSU (away) in the Michigan seats.
I remember Wolverine Devotee said he had a video he's been working on, I'm curious to see it.
When it catches me in the right mood, a good hype video wrecks me. I'll contribute.

Like 1:50 when they are walking out of the tunnel and you just see the helmets bobbing to the riff. PUMPED.

Listening to Desmond say "Then I see the punter and I'm thinking there's no way in hell he's gonna catch me" makes me laugh so much. We desperately need another all-out playmaker like Desmond or Charles. Let's hope Jabrill can be that guy soon.

The clip is brief but give has a lot of nice hits. We had NFL talent all over the field. I especially like the coverage sack at 2:33. The Vandy QB holds it one second too long and is swarmed by Wolverines. This my first embed so I hope it works.

Nothing will, unfortunately, ever top the original "Sometimes When You're On."
It captured a state of a program and the fans' collective emotional status so perfectly. It's the only hype video I know of that was referenced in a movie.
It was, and still is, perfect.
I'd love to see something that similarly avoids the usual cliche' of hype videos. That actually captures an emotional state instead of pasting together a bunch of slow-mo BTN footage of the stadium with highlights.
I love hype videos. However, they've become rather repetitive. There was one basketball hype video that came close to "Sometimes," but that's the only one since 2009 that has been memorable.
So, let's see it MGoBlogerati! Who's going to break the mold and come up with something truly original?
The other is "Madness" which recaps the last two years tourney runs. Both give me chills.
