Reports: Woolfolk Injured
If Troy Woolfolk were to encounter a season ending injury, which freshman would step up to fill the void at corner?
P.S. This probably happened.
EDIT: This did happen.
EDIT, EDIT: Sorry I brought it up in a dick way, but my source is about as reliable as it gets.

Good thing corner is the one position a true freshman can step in and be serviceable...
August 17th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
There goes our season. WTF!
August 17th, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
I'm grabbing a helmet, and I'm ready to head for the hills at a moment's notice.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
Well I just spent the last 5 min banging my head on a keyboard.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
Unless its torn ACL, I don't know how anyone can conclude he is out for the season. High ankle sprain is usually 4-6 weeks and broken ankle is 6 weeks.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:30 PM ^
6 weeks from now would bring him back for possibly the Indiana game, but he'd probably sit that out too. Certainly this spell doom for UConn and ND, but he'd miss easy UMass and BGSU. So hopefully that's the case, and he'll be all better for the MSU game.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
A broken ankle can take months to heal properly. Six weeks is on the optimistic side.

August 17th, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
well, he's not a RS, so he can come back next year, correct?
We just need to win 7 games, damn-it and RR will get a another year.
EDIT: Apparently this just happened, and I'm sure the Doctors haven't had the time to run tests, scans, and interpret the results. So far, people think it looks really bad (these people are likely not orthopedists too).
August 17th, 2010 at 6:26 PM ^
Looks like it won't last the night.
Why do I even get up in the morning?
August 17th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
August 17th, 2010 at 6:29 PM ^
I seriously almost want to say that he should start both ways, even though I'm pretty sure that's not humanly possible.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:29 PM ^
Because having a potentially starting QB get injured while trying to play a position he doesn't know is exactly what we need right now! Great idea!

No need to be a douche, I'm sure OP is just as excited as you are to have 1 corner with experience.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:09 PM ^
I wouldn't exactly call Floyd experienced.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:39 PM ^
its probably a bit of an overreaction at this point, but something to consider if we lose anyone else.
could also be a nice prelude to the 2011 and/or 2012 Shoelace Heisman campaign....
August 17th, 2010 at 6:54 PM ^
I don't know about Denard, but I think a few of our safeties will be playing CB this year. Possibilities: Carvin Johnson and Ray Vinopal who I believe have decent speed and possibly Marvin Robinson. Even thinking about this is scary.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
Desperate times....call for desperate measures...
An idea so crazy...it might work.
This would kill any hope of Gardener redshirting, but what do we have to lose? I'm sure that fire under Forcier's ass has been sufficiently lit. Give him the steering wheel for another year.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:28 PM ^
I'll cheat and risk it. But, the Sam is saying its an ankle, they're awaiting word on severity and it doesnt look good. The presumption throughout the boards on both pay sites is that its a season ended, but we'll see.
thats for those who cant see behind the curtain at those sites.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:28 PM ^
If there were ever a time...
August 17th, 2010 at 6:29 PM ^
This is not the time. Don't be a douche.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
Stay classy. If there ever were a time for you to just not say anything, it's now.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
I want to beat you down with that trombone.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
you are going to get clobbered by a rabid trombone quartet.
Fuck it, you're not worth the waste of the gold paint that would chip off the sides. But here's hoping your whole team breaks both femurs.
Edit: Is it finally time to see a good ol' ban on this d-bag? Since we're in freak out mode anyway? Man, you usually have at least some sense of decency on here.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:40 PM ^
Why does it not surprise me that you are in fact a douchebag? Fucking redneck.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:07 PM ^
Thanks, man.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:18 PM ^
No need to gloat. Your team is one knee injury away from going 5-7 this year (Pryor).
August 17th, 2010 at 7:27 PM ^
... or just die, whatever. You know, if you get murdered, your quarterback might take the stand in my defense, i mean, i'm just sayin..
Oh, have you figured out where the OTHER osu's are, cuz i've been lookin' for em for a long time, and haven't come up with anything.

I was having a good day until I came to this thread. Good grief why do we always get punched in the gut when things start to turn rosy?
I put blame on Brian who about a week or so ago, claimed that we were having a nice gentle offseason. Not so nice anymore, is it?

No one kill themselves. No one eat a whole keg. No one smash their computers.
As has been said in the thread a few different places, this could be an extreme overreaction. There are several possibilities here. Someone could be trolling, someone could have mistaken Woolfolk for someone else, someone could have seen him twist it and go down, and thought "Oh Noes!" Someone could have even made a good play and said "Man, Troy, he just broke your ankles!" which was overheard and subsequently freaked out over.
Before we see any official diagnosis, there are a hundred scenarios that could be going on here. Many of them are nothing to freak out about. Some of them are bad, but still okay. The worst case, in which he would be out for the season, is almost impossible if we are actually talking about his ankle.
Like mmiicchhiiggaann said, unless his ankle was somehow severed off, he's likely back into things within 6 weeks. Much more likely than a break, he may have bruised or twisted it. In that case, he'll be fine before the season starts. It's really unlikely that he will need surgery on an injury he sustained in practice, on defense. Remember, he's hitting people, not the other way around.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:40 PM ^
but you can also tear ligaments, tendons and muscles that are worse than a bone.
we all are hoping for six weeks.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:54 PM ^
fuck. That's sort of what I meant by pointing out the likelihood of getting injured on defense. Also, I tend to get technical about anatomy, so if it were me reporting I would be less vague than "ankle." To me, the generic term of ankle means bone or joint.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
I don't want to be a jerk...I'm just looking for reasons to hope you're wrong. Is this the same source that told you Parker was a silent verbal?
August 17th, 2010 at 6:36 PM ^
I think Sam Webb pretty much implied Parker was a silent verbal for a time, also.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:52 PM ^
...looking at this guy's other (rare) posts...he's no troll.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
Well, now someone has to step up big time. I don't know how else to react. I took a few deep breaths and waited to respond. This is the most calm and rational thing I can think of. Otherwise, I too want to bash my head on the table.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
Balas at Rivals is basically reporting that the rumors are true and its a worst case scenario.
out for the year, from good sources.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:30 PM ^
F. U. C. K.
I've had huge hopes for Buc Nasty being a serviceable 3rd corner this year and developing into an excellent DB down the line.
If this is all true, we need you now Buc!! Like, no pressure or anything...
August 17th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
when i was in college i hurt my ankle in basketball. I, and everyone around me thought my leg was going to fall off. I had a sprain and was fine. Now, i wasn't there and no one else posting was, but we need to wait till we hear official word
August 17th, 2010 at 7:08 PM ^
this is blogging at its worst. let's all spend time guessing what happened. then guess what will happen as a result instead of just waiting til tomorrow to get the facts.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:47 PM ^
Well, if it's going to happen, I guess it's better now, with three weeks to move people around and get them acclimated, than during the season itself. I remember Ron Bellamy getting pressed into service at CB in the middle of his freshman season. We're probably looking at a frosh WR doing likewise now.

/optimism for 2010.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:07 PM ^
Hopefully it's just a clever press tactic to make everyone think that Woolfolk is hurt. Then he comes out against UConn owning. Of course the same thing has been said about the wingless helmet on Tate. This sucks. Alcohol anyone?
August 17th, 2010 at 7:12 PM ^
I came here after a looong day really hoping to see something positive had happened, maybe brighten the day a bit. Yeah, so that happened.
I feel awful for Woolfolk, this sucks. I almost feel worse for corch though. Fuck.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:28 PM ^
I feel almost as bad for RR too. It was going to be hard enough to appease M fans this year, and now this. I think Brandon can see the big picture, but I don't know about most of our fanbase.
