Dude, Mattison will drink Meyer's milkshake.
November 18th, 2011 at 7:37 AM ^
I don't even know what that means

November 18th, 2011 at 9:07 AM ^
Its an amazing scene
November 17th, 2011 at 11:07 PM ^
twitter is also saying that Urban is close to a deal to become the next head coach at UCLA, I would believe that before this one.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
Demi and Ashton are trending on twitter too. Same with women who don't cook.

I don't believe anything I read on twitter unless it's posted by espn or sports illustrated.

And Urban Meyer doesn't scare me what so ever.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
hahahaha you said ESPN hahahahahaha
November 18th, 2011 at 12:13 AM ^
Will Jim Tressel call Desmond Howard with the news during college game day?
November 17th, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
If true, so much for taking a couple of years off to chill out and be with the family. OSU is another high pressure job, just like Florida. Some guys just can't help themselves.
Even if he does take the job, I doubt he's still there in 5 years.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
I'll wait for someone real to report it.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
It's like now they're saying that they're not being serious but once were.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:30 PM ^
I think you're reading into it too much. They were talking about the tweet above saying they heard from multiple sources. Not that they were no longer serious.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
I hope it is true. Bring hm on!
November 17th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
Bring it!!!!!
November 17th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
I'll waiting until his press secretary..er daughter let's us know his plans.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:37 PM ^
His daughter has a decent twitter account...if you want to vomit. She really loved Florida while he was there...
November 17th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
That'll be a long commute from the house he just bought in State College.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
Can we change "report" to "rumor"? I'll trust it when a credible news outlet says it. 11W may be just a little biased. Then again, with the state of investigative journalism in this country, ESPN will be reporting it in about 11 seconds using 11W as their "source".
November 17th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
Thought about doing that. But 11W is usually respected around these parts (including the proprietor of this here blog) as legitimate news.
I made sure to highlight that its them in the body so no one would think it was a widespread news release or wire report.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:43 PM ^
Ramzy might be tight with Brian but he's still nothing more than a honk for Ohio. He posts more than his fair share of hopeful/delusional crap about the ongoing "investigations" etc.
This Meyer business seems a lot like that.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
Lets remember he retired from Florida for "health reasons" (amongst other things)... Why would he take on a program which is in shambles and under the NCAA and everyone's microscope? The only thing worse for his health would be taking over at Penn State- I think he is staying in retirement.
November 18th, 2011 at 12:05 AM ^
If he realy does have a health condition and it has to do with his heart, I would be very fearful if I were his family.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
What? What about Fickell?!
November 17th, 2011 at 11:56 PM ^
however, on a serious note, if true, fickel should probably give his resignation, effective today. i understand he forced into the position and didn't exactly have the university's support, but to have your school arranging your replacement behind your back is embarassing. leave with some dignity, on your own terms.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
Foley's back in Gainesville and Fickell to Florida is a done deal. Multiple sources. No timetable for an announcement--they'll probably let Muschamp finish the season.
Bollman's rumored to be first choice for the job in Ohio. If they can't get Gruden, that is.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
I totally believe these rumors, and I look forward to the many battles between Urban Meyer and Coach Miles Ferentz Schiano Gruden Harbaugh Hoke.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
Don't forget about Gary "Drinkle" Pinkell!
November 17th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
Whether it's Urban or someone else, you know tOSU isn't going to rest on their laurels with some two-bit coach. We should expect nothing less. And we should want nothing less.
November 18th, 2011 at 12:13 AM ^
last time going w/ the Youngstown State coach
November 17th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
He left UF to be with family and mind his health, but is already back in the fray after 1 year? I don't know...
Repeat the hesitations that have been shared in this thread. I don't know if he wants to go through another pressure grinder, at least not now. Maybe in a few years.
November 18th, 2011 at 10:30 AM ^
because the impact to recruiting of an Urban Meyer at Ohio State (even over Penn State) is a significant challenge (starting with Dunn staying), there are enough major openings this year to make it a good time to name your price.
On the flip, depending on how the NCAA actuals comes down on Ohio State in the end, they may need a fall guy. Some Kiffen-like homer , or (sorry in advance) naive Rodriguez-like candidate who would jump at the chance despite the risk to come in and sit over a program in catharsis.
The thing is, OSU's self-imposed sanctions are only 1-fers (unlike ours), not the typical 2x the crime. If the NCAA sticks to the rule of two, then they are looking at 10 scholarships, 2 bowl games, etc. Then there is the risk of an AD and maybe even a University President change. A lot of risks there. It depends on how Meyer sees the risk / reward. (Same thing at Penn State. I think the risk is actually lower there, the question is the recruiting cache versus OSU.)
November 17th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
I ain't afraid of Urban Meyer. Bring him on. He had a monopoly in FL while Miami and FSU sucked. He'll have some competition here.
November 18th, 2011 at 9:33 AM ^
He only had a down Miami and a down FSU to really compete with him in his backyard. Sure he was (still is?) a really good coach, but he's not some savior for Ohio's program. The NCAA won't pull their punches just b/c Meyer might be coming on board.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
They are all quoting Mike Freeman of CBS, and he is saying its a false rumour.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
as long as we beat 'em
November 17th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
They aren't satisfied with Luke Fickell?
November 18th, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
November 18th, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
I want to give him one more year to prove himself. This year wasn't a fair test, given that he had 5 starters suspended for half the season and no chance to bring in his own people or create a functional offense. An additional year is contingent on firing the Walrus and the VCR repairman though.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
Fugh.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
said he wants to coach again, but he has it made at ESPN. It's a no stress job that pays him a lot of money to sit around and just talk football. I don't see him coaching for another couple years.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
Kinda depressing that in the middle of an NCAA Shitstorm AND with their mouth breathing fan-base AND a dumb fuck AD, they still get their number one choice. We couldn't get our number one (Harbaugh) choice who was an alum and had to settle for our 2nd or 3rd choice. Now I'm not complaining after the fact, but it's somewhat puzzling since UM is a class above OSU on almost every level.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
not happening.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
Urban may be the coach of OSU someday. Heck, he could be the coach of OSU next year.
One thing I will guarantee you...Urban WILL NOT TAKE THAT JOB BEFORE SANCTIONS COME DOWN. He is a smart man...why would he walk into a mess?
I agree about not being scared either. Saban beat him on a regular basis, so did MIles. We can too.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
Spring summer at least, last time I heard.
November 18th, 2011 at 8:59 AM ^
November 17th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
THe media saying that it's a false rumor doesn't mean it's not true. I doubt OSU actually wants it out there that they have replaced their coach mid season, without even firing him. Would upstage the seniors 2 days before senior day and coming before the Michigan game as well. I can easily believe there is an oral agreement between both parties just as easily as there has been no such meeting.
As much as everyone says: why would Meyer want to go coach at OSU, after his health issues and the troubles going on down there, he has always said he'd like to coach at OSU, ND or UofM, and I doubt the actual sanctions from the NCAA will be that damaging. OSU's stonewalling and "self reporting" after the cat was out of the bag seem to be keeping NCAA punishments at a minimum.
And with the way the defense has turned around this season, I'm much less worried about opponents' coaches than I was 4 months ago.
November 17th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
Sure, but announcing a huge name like Meyer would probably help with their recruiting.
November 18th, 2011 at 8:38 AM ^
Maybe, but a lot of players don't want to play in a spread offense. I think Dunn has said something along those lines. He may be able to attract some spread athletes, but it might not be great for their class this late in the game.
