Replacement for Mikel Leshoure?

Submitted by wresler120 on

I'm not saying this will happen, but I believe it would be a great move .... The Lions should sign Mike Hart. When he's healthy he's a tough runner who doesn't go down easy. That, and it's a huge boost to the attendance. It makes sense to me, but does it make sense to Mayhew?

What are your thoughts on a replacement signing?

I like Hart as much as the next Michigan fan, but Leshoure had 2 inches and 30+ pounds on Hart.  Leshoure was basically filling the Lendale White role in the offense.  Hart is not Lendale White.

already this camp around the nfl, its not the trainers fault, maybe its the players fault for not being prepared physically because the lockout, or most likely just terrible luck.

Lions aren't really struggling with attendance, #2 in the league in new ticket sales and even last year ended up selling out 7 of 8 home games, hell I think the Monday night is already sold out for this year. Hype was not solely on Leshoure's shoulders.

That being said, I'd rather a bigger back than Hart. I'm ready for Hart to quit pro football to join the Michigan coaching staff so he can take over for Hoke.

I'm not surprised about the solid attendance numbers. If there's one thing the city of Detroit has going for it, it's their downtown around the football and baseball stadiums. Couple that with the fact that Ford Field is a very nice fan experience and you've got a well rounded gameday experience.

But, he probably won't be signed by the sad-sack Lions.  If he can't find another team I really hope he starts his coaching career somewhere.  MH will make an excellent college coach somewhere - hopefully at Michigan someday.

What's wrong with Best as our RB? or was this question in addition to him and Mikel together?

watch some film. he is a solid 1 cut north south runner but he is not a powerback, he is always avoiding contact and rarely breaks tackles.

he is good, he is fast for his size, and he can catch but he is not a power back.

I wouldnt mind them and actually like the idea of hart for a 1 year contract.

hes tough, hes a north south runner that doesnt go down on first contact, he can block very well he can catch and he doesnt fumble.

I can also see maurice morris thriving as he is a solid slasher 1 cut and go type guy. it would be nice to pick up a short yardage power guy because they dont have on on the team but what can you do? injuries happen

Well they just signed Jerome Harrison and Mike Bell.  I actually like both of these signings.  Both of these guys have been very successful at times, when given the opportunity, in their careers.  Hopefully one, or both of them work out.

I'm very excited about the Harrison signing, he has filled in great for the Browns and Eagles when injuries hit, definitely think he's a starting-caliber guy too. Bell will probably be a short-yardage guy but not a bad pickup. When Leshoure is healthy Bell will probably get cut.
