They'll never say it.  But we'll be able to figure, when we see how many special new ticket offers are being made.  Special super-family deals!  Tickets to four games, plus crazy bread, dipping sauce and a 64 oz. beverage!

They do that, when they think they'll be able to convert those deal packs (non-renewable of course) into season tickets next year for one of our new unnaturally-enhanced odd-year schedules with MSU and OSU.

The 2013 Akron game showed us that.  $200 for 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 programs and, as an added bonus/late addition, a 3D poster, too (possibly 4 posters, not sure).  And with all that, the announced/inflated attendance was 107k.  Meaning we were still short by 5000 buyers of selling out.
2014 will be worse.  In many, MANY ways.

Read a rumor here that "recent grads" would get an invite to buy via lower cost PSD...but it's not necessarily the PSD that makes it such a lousy deal, it's the whole cost added together...with the lousy opponents factored in.

I scoff at those who made money selling tickets as well (per other post)...these people probably never lose in Vegas, either.  Like you posited, you'd have to sell ND, OSU well before the season or before the losses accumulate.

I also discount those who will now suddenly buy extra seats THIS YEAR.  There were plenty of seats available to add to your season ticket order last year...this with a schedule worth paying some money for.  Why pay this year?  Those extra seats will still be available next year, too!

It could just be that those of us who have no problem with the policy just rarely post. I don't think they would view this as a good gauge of their entire ticket holders feelings, for all we know nobody posting in this thread actually has season tickets.

I can hear myself saying that.  And I'd be stupid.

Stupid, because it's not as though you won't be able to go to any games.  StubHub is making it easier than ever.  Buy a ticket to whatever game(s) you want.

You can keep on going to the the games, buying off the secondary market.  No problem.  You just won't be paying the PSD anymore.

Now (and this gets sort of esoteric); you might well say, But I like my season tickets; sitting in the same seats that I like; that I know where to go and park and walk and make the whole experience -- a real game day experience -- better; I see old friends and family and stadium acquaintances that are important to me; I go to more games, as an invested season ticket holder...

And to that I say that I understand very well.  If you are saying those things, I join you; and I respectfully suggest that as season ticket holders we are being screwed for liking those things.  Things that ought to make us preferred customers and not dupes, paying extra.

And, depending on this year's product (we had better not lose one of these shit home games), I very well might not renew in 2015.

The only reason I am doing so this year is for familial/legacy sentiments: I grew up in those seats and have some of my most cherished memories there, both with my dad who recently moved across the country, and my late mom.

As important as that is to my heart, at some point I have to use my head and pay (at most) half the price over the course of the season on the street for a declining product in an atmosphere that now feels like being at a minor league baseball game on a Tuesday night.

I too will not be purchasing season tickets this year.  To me it is no longer worth the cost to bring my family of four to a game.  It saddens me that college football has gone the direction of pricing families out.

It's funny to me that the AD continues to punish people who want to remain involved in supporting the team by completely ignoring the secondary market for virtually all of the games.  Nobody is going to spend hundreds of dollars a year to watch, what, Minnesota and Utah (or whatever home games they have in a given season)?  Even in the best years when multiple rivals are in A2, you still can usually find tickets that cost no more than the amount you'd have paid for the full season slate.

Oh, and when Brandon said you can no longer bring in water due to "security reasons" - he lost me.  Totally illogical statement and inconveniences me at the game...I'll enjoy the game with my six pack and television.  K, thanks.

Not a fan of the corporate experience nor the lackluster schedule.  Plus, the internet makes it a lot easier to get tickets for the games I want.  I am still keeping my season hockey tickets but Yost has become a shell of itself with all the corporate seats that are empty.

I've had a pair of my own for the past 20 yrs and now my parents' pair as well (since 72). My pair are one seat over from the PSD section. So I'm keeping those. But somewhat reluctantly, we'll be letting the pair in section 6 go. Just cannot justify them any longer. We were the last holdouts of a bunch of longtimers in that particular area. We've seen all of our seat-mates drop out one by one over the last 5 years or so. It's really sort of sad when I think back to the many fond memories formed while sitting in those seats. But things have changed so much... *sigh*

I recently moved back to Michigan and am planning to purchase season tickets for the first time. As a newbie, I find several points made on this thread (and repeatedly on this site) interesting. Everyone seems to hate Dave Brandon but all he is doing is capturing the money that would be made on the secondary market. This money is going to the University not to some corporate bigwig. It sounds like several fans are upset that they will not turn a profit on their tickets this year. From what I can tell a lot of people buy extra tickets solely to resell them on the secondary market. I do not have much sympathy for those fans. If you don't want to pay $2400 for seats on the fifty then move. The PSD for the end zone is $75 (closer to $50 after the tax deduction). Do you know how much it costs for an NFL PSL? No tax deduction there.
