Reminder: Desmond Howard to College Football HoF
The Twitters are blowing up over this but just a nice reminder that Desmond is being honored with a reception tonight in NYC and the dinner fully complimenting his accomplishments tomorrow:
"It's a tremendous honor to be in this class," Howard said. "You think about the guys who helped you get here, this is a team sport, and I had some tremendous coaches. My favorite coach at any level was Bo Schembechler. I always strived to make a guy like that proud. I don't know if you come across a person like that, who is outside of your biological family, often. But many of us, as players, once in awhile, we come across a special coach or a special person like that, and for me, it was Bo Schembechler.
"To go into the Hall of Fame, to represent the University of Michigan and not only coach Schembechler but coach Gary Moeller, who had the nerve, on fourth-and-2, to go for a pass play against Notre Dame and have that type of faith in our offense, that propelled me to have the season that I had, was tremendous. I had some great coaches, some great teammates and some great people around me at the University of Michigan, so it's definitely a great honor to go into the Hall of Fame as a member of the University of Michigan football family."
Remember to live your life like he suggested in The Rivalry DVD: When someone tells you that you suck, it's possibly just a flattering jealousy prevailing. Or, in tl; dr format: Haters Gonna Hate.
Congrats again to Desmond.

Cheers to you #21. Your heisman pose is my first memory of Michigan football, and one that spawned a lifetime of fandom. Is it weird that I'm proud of him?

Desmond should make us all proud to be Michigan Wolverines. Think about how many former athletes would love to have his job. He's the rare individual who has succeeded at the highest level, can articulate his experience and knowledge clearly, and is simply a likable guy.
Congrats to Desmond. Thanks for the memories. Simply the best.
