Remember this on Saturday...

Submitted by drewro02 on

So I have been following this blog for about two years now, but rarely make posts on the board. I enjoy this blog very much, and check it just about every day. I grew up near Cincinnati my whole life, and currently live in Nebraska, where I am in the military. I made the eleven hour drive home to Cincinnati last night, because my cousin was killed Afghanistan last Saturday. I will be missing the UCONN game Saturday, as that will be the day that we will be burying my cousin. Although I am from Ohio and have never lived in Michigan, I love my Wolverines just as much as the next Michigan fan, and still consider myself a Michigan Man. Just remember on Saturday that this is just a game, and lets be thankful that we have the freedom to watch our beloved Wolverines on Saturdays. If you know one or see a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine, take the time out to quickly thank them for what they do. God Bless this country, and GO BLUE!!!

I'm sorry for your loss. This really does put in perspective how ridiculious we all are about sports. But, sports shield us from real life shit. Thank you for your service and all that you do and what your cousin did for this country. Hopefully you have something to be happy about Saturday.

I'm so sorry for the loss for both you and your family.  Thank you to your cousin for serving all of us, and again thank you for putting a game in perspective for what it really is.  All of this community's thoughts go out to your family.

I am sorry for your loss. It is good to step back and realize there are much more serious things going on in the world other than the goings on of a Football team. Thank you for your service.

Thanks for your service. You and your cousin are better men than I could ever aspire to be.

Michigan football is my distraction from all the depressing things I cover in the media, and I take the games real seriously. But, like you say, it is only a game. Again, condolences.

... I will remember your cousin when we see the Honor Guard Saturday at the Big House.

Football is great, UM football--even better.  But it is just a game.

God bless you and your family.  Thank you for all that you do.  It is because of you that we have a country and the freedoms we take for granted everyday.  Thank you from the entire Go Blue nation.

you have put things in perspective.

God bless all those that make our freedoms possible. Most people rarely think about this sort of stuff till they read something like this.

You will be in my thoughts.
