the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection
Remember Jake Fisher?
You take him on this team every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
That being said, due to the Kalis', the Magnussons', the Boschs', etc. etc. we are no longer in absolute panic mode about OL.

wait, are we getting multiple Kalises, Magnussons and Bosches? I thought it was just one of each...

Well I guess that response is appropriate given your handle.
Ironically, it's not. Cudi is much too mellow to resort to that sort of retort (oh wow, sorry, really didn't mean to go all Dr. Seuss there). Mr. Rager is actually more about an internal anger (deep down hidden split personality if you will) than an outwardly one.
automatic +1 for using the correct definition of ironic, not the alanis morissette definition.
no, no......more like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife, ironic
You're both wrong. It's more like "meeting the man of your dreams, and then meeting his beautiful wife" ironic
I only care about the recruits that do pick Michigan.
Well, mostly, I wish nothing bad upon those that choose otherwise but seriously I can barely keep up with all the kids that are in play each year for Michigan.

After reading the article I noticed on the right hand margin of the web page Oregon's OOC schedule is listed. Arkansas State, Fresno State and Tennessee Tech. Wow.
Well they learned a good lesson last season: don't play tough teams OOC cause it can really only bite you in the ass.
Pretty easy way to break in a new starting QB and RB
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
Sorta, isn't he that really good chess player for the Los Angeles Lakers?

Interviewer: If Rich Rod would have stayed at Michigan, would you have stayed committed?
Fisher: I guess we'll never know.
A wise answer, indeed. I think a better question for Jake would have been, "If you could have known how successful Michigan was going to be with the new coaching staff, would you have stayed?" That question may have given him a little more pause.
"... Just as Christian came up to the Cross, his burden loosed from off his shoulders, fell from off his back, and began to tumble down the hill, and so it continued to do till it came to the mouth of the sepulchre. There it fell in, and I saw it
Oregon beat the Big Ten champ in the Rose Bowl. I don't think he's wanting in that department.
True, but if we can go so far as to say that future team success would have been essentially a draw between the two schools, his affinities for Michigan might have persuaded him to stay.

We'll never know. His affinity for Michigan may not be that significant. Obviously he chose Oregon after being committed to Rich Rod, so it seems his affinity is for the style of play.
I guess you can argue our prospects look better than they did when he was a recruit...but he might not have perceived it that way and I'm sure the Rodriguez staff didn't either. It's a matter of perception, and we don't know that Fisher's have changed.
His choice to go play at Oregon was motivated by style of play. He left for a higly successful spread oriented team, and has worked his butt off based on those weight gain numbers. Congrats to him, looks like he's headed for the field on Sundays.
Grow Blue
He reminded me a lot of Taylor Lewan. I wish he was at Michigan.
They do have a lot of similar qualities. Apparently Jake just wanted to play in a spread and shred offense.
In what way? Fisher is quicker maybe. Lewan is meaner, bigger and more successful. Lewan did not play TE in HS.
Fisher in the games I have seen him play does not have the ability to shut down DEs like Lewan did Cameron Heyward as a freshman.
You can't judge a player before his career is over but so far Lewan, is better bigger meaner and year to year more successful - perhaps not as quick off the ball. It's hard to compare them straight up - since Fisher has not had the opportunity and plays in the spread which is a different OL philosophy.
I'm just asking, because I know you don't say things without being able to back it up.
Body type, athleticism, etc. I do agree that Lewan is meaner/nastier, but he's also a redshirt junior-to-be. I'll admit that I haven't seen Fisher play since he's been at Oregon, but at this point in Lewan's career, he was coming off his redshirt freshman season and hadn't played a down yet. I might even argue that Fisher has been MORE successful since he actually got on the field for a pretty good team as a true freshman, while Lewan sat on the bench for a crappy 5-7 team.
i do remember his loss as being significant. i'm grateful denard didn't choose to sit out a year and join him at oregon-it probably would have been a logical move.
any bowl will do
Would Oregon want Denard? I mean, this is the first I've heard of it -- and Oregon already has a full stable of QBs.
"It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to all of a sudden come back and get the feeling back, get the health back, feel good again and then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach."
Sam Webb implied that Fisher was a huge loss at the time, FWIW.
Interesting to see guys like Fisher, Zettel, W.Gholston, etc, that would've likely been playing for us had Martin/Coleman not dropped the ball.
You've got a hard time blaming Fisher's departure on Martin, who (a) hired the guy who got him to commit, and (b) left Michigan more than a year before Fisher decommitted.
is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollypop. Time to get over it. He didn't want to come here and picked another school. Good luck to him and let's be happy about the guys we DO have or are coming in.

Just out of curiosity: How should we read your posts? What kind of voice does your avatar (llama? alpaca?) have?
Personally, I've always imagined it to sound like Katharine Hepburn. Was I close?

heard Julia Child's voice come out of that llama.
Most Impressive: Has Excellent Ball Skills.
He's not a Michigan player, he's not a fan. I don't want to know what he does or where he goes.

He was one of my favorite recruits...I thought he was a natural LT that was going to be next in line after Lewan. To me, he was a shade below Lewan, but still a top prospect who would've been and will be drafted.

Jake Fisher? no. Jake Long? yes!

Please update the other 494 recruits we offered over the last 4 years. Great job on the Fisher post! We anxiously await the purge 494 posts. Go Blue!

No. I don't remember
Not that I loved Rich Rod less, but that I loved Michigan more.
