Rematch with Bama
Ok ay, so since we are only one game into the season and we only have 1 loss I am inclined to play the what if game....
Lets say Michigan wins out and only Bama is undefeated, do we deserve a rematch like Bama got against LSU? Better yet do we want to ever accept a rematch? Obviously yes if its for the MNC.
If we did get a rematch I would have to believe that our chances would have to greatly increase of us winning.
I dunno I'm bored and thought this would add some good debate and its not impossible for this scenario to happen.
Well lets start by beating AF this weekend!!!!
GO BLUE
*edit* What... too soon....too soon???
Sooooo I guess my 2 post ever was a complete failure. But hey sometimes you gotta learn the hard way! Maybe I should just start a Friday night drinking thread next time.September 6th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
My soul just had a heart attack. Thank you.

If you're looking for some sort of "Groundhog Day" feedback loop, then this fantasy is for you!

We would get destroyed... again.

It will never happen, not with the beating we took. Think ratings....who would want to watch this type of game again. Hell, I didn't enjoy it the first time around. When Bama and LSU had a rematch, they were arguably the best two teams in the country.

The BSC would take a 1 loss USC, LSU, Oregon, and possibly another team or two like Oklahoma. We would need USC and Oregon to somehow magically find two losses which is incredibly unlikely. LSU likewise. A rematch this season is near, if not, impossible. Rescheduling them in 3ish years for a home and home is the only possibilty of playing, unless we have a shot at the NC sometime in the next couple of years.

Wow.

Those things don't actually help you fall asleep, FYI. Studies show they actually contribute to a worse nights sleep. Science.

Don't deserve it how? Like, we don't deserve another shot at Alabama? Or our team is a genuinely nice group of chaps, and they don't deserve to have their faces raked off in a meat grinder again?

That's all great and everything but the Big 12 has held their own against the SEC much better than the Big 10 has. Texas barely lost a NC without their starting QB who was a Heisman contender. The Big Ten, at this point is not even close to the Big 12 at the top, in the middle, or at the bottom. Kansas is the only doormat in the league right now. The Big Ten has Indiana, Purdue, and Minnesota. The middle is awful relative to others' middle. Northwestern, Illinois and Iowa? Please. Put that against Baylor, KSU, TCU and you have a bloodbath. I would love to sit here and claim the Big Ten is a good conference, but they aren't and you will find no competetive evidence that they are. They get smacked around by the SEC nearly every time they play them. The Big 12 at least hangs in there because they can score some points.

we could get a rematch with Appalachian State in, say, the Belk Bowl.

This team will not be quite the same at the end of the season as at the beginning. O and D lines will gel, Linebackers will get used to their new assignments. Recievers will improve.
HOWEVA,
All that and a bag of chips still gets us whipped by at least two scores vs. Bama.
September 6th, 2012 at 11:59 PM ^
We can cover the spread this time!
September 7th, 2012 at 12:29 AM ^
I bet the spread would be 25 or more. So, maybe.
