January 21st, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
that hangs in the middle of the stadium in an anti-gravity field so the punters can hit them, jus like in Dallas?!
January 20th, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^

O...M...G
Nuff said.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
Can we get the hot details? I'm anxious to see what they plan on installing at Crisler.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Seems there are none yet. DB just linked to the mgoblue.com home page in his tweet.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Just awsome!
January 20th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Should be sweet...as long as I don't have to bring 3-D glasses.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
From the looks of that high tech lab, I'm not sure he's getting the sufficient funding. From the results, I think I'd rather try crack.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
All I know is it looks like he is having a mini-seizure. I'll just stick to plain 'ole high def, thank you.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
what...........the fuck?
January 20th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
I prefer Plankton's chum buckets.
January 21st, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
ugh, ewwww, I'll take the crab juice.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
UHHHH... since when did HD = 3D?
January 20th, 2011 at 7:05 PM ^
Does the thought of 3D scoreboards AT THE SPORTING EVENT ITSELF strike you as a little odd?
January 20th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
I just shit my pants with excitement.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
That's kinda weird.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
since your underwear is on the outside of your pants, Doug.
January 21st, 2011 at 8:12 AM ^
You mean "excrement", right?
January 20th, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
This is the cat's ass right here!
January 20th, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
But that also pretty much guarantees they're re-using the same structures at the Big House, so no Godzillatron (yet).
Yost and Crisler definitely need new structures though, the current ones aren't big enough to do HD justice.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
I don't think we'll ever get a "Godzillatron". He did make it seem like the new boards were going to be quite large, though.
January 20th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
40% larger than what is there now.
January 20th, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
Wondering if he meant the overall size of the board, or the actual monitor...could be sweet if the new board was all monitor and 40% larger than the current board.
January 20th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
Chengelis tweeted that the new scoreboards will be 40% larger than the old score boards and that the new scoreboards would be all video board. She said that brandon explicitly pointed out that the old scoreboards are only 1/3 video. It all seemed to imply that it would be video that is 40% larger than the entire old scoreboards.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
DANCE!! DANCE!! DANCE!!!
January 20th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
Does this mean that we can actually watch replays at Yost now?
January 20th, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
So glad Yost was included in the scoreboard upgrades. The current ones are atrocious, although the penalty graphics are hilarious. Completely agree, video capability is a must, and should've been added in years ago.
January 20th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
yost needs the upgrades so bad. i think there are maybe 8 pixels on the current scoreboard.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:54 PM ^
The music of our generation (UM '82) continues to dominate!
January 21st, 2011 at 10:43 AM ^
Everyone knows music attained perfection in 1987.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
is next season, this season 2011?
January 20th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
Crisler needs any upgrade it can get, and this is only going to make the revamped Big House look even better. Good job DB, way to get this done.
January 20th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
Said that the Crisler renovation is on as well, approved by regents
January 20th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
This makes me want to fail some classes so I can go to games an extra year.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
HD scoreboards in the Big House will really be the icing on the cake for that Stadium
January 20th, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
In comparison to most other big time CFB stadiums our scoreboards are extremely small. Not to mention UM has the biggest stadium so I would think the scoreboards need to be at least as big as most others if not bigger. Side note, this line of thought excludes UT's scoreboard.
January 20th, 2011 at 6:31 PM ^
UT's scoreboard is 55.5' x 134' (7437 sq ft); is 238% the size of our current scoreboards (40 x 78 - 3120 sq ft); and cost $8 million in 2006.
DB stated that the new scoreboards were going to be approx. 30-40% larger than the current boards or 4056 - 4368 sq ft for approx. $10 million each.
Not that two 43' x 102' scoreboards (just a guess based on UT's 11x27 dimensions) are inadequate, but couldn't we get the same exact boards Daktronics made for UT for $20MM?
If it's a matter of timing, I would rather wait a year and have two huge boards rather than pushing two smaller boards to get them in for the 2011 season.
January 20th, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
It sounds like the total cost for Michigan Stadium, Crisler and Yost will be $20M, not just the 2 for the stadium.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
Nice! Cannot wait to see them.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
Boom. This is going to be awesome.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:04 PM ^
Glad to see they spent my $1,000 seat upgrade fee wisely.
Let me know what you guys want next year and I'll see what I can put together.
January 20th, 2011 at 6:18 PM ^
I learned the hard way that an increased PSD donation seeking upgraded seats means only that you have paid the minimum PSD for better seats...not that you'll necessarily be able to get those seats. The added donation will improve your point total, so that in twenty years, you can get better seats. This year will also be harder for upgrades because we have ND, Neb and OSU at home (plus excitement about a new coach). The best chance for upgrades comes in the MSU year (as that's the only "big" home game). That being said...I hope I'm wrong and you get some great seats.
January 20th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
domino's mozzarella melting in HD is so much more appetizing
January 20th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
Now everything can finally be in WolverineVision.....imagine Denard's smile, gazing at you from the jumbotron, forever......
January 20th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
Although he may have bungled "the process" in the coach search, other than that, I have been pretty happy with Brandon as AD.
