Ref body checks North Dakota player
Scored one on us, but at least we got this video out of it...

The ref of steel

I'm surprised he didn't call that a penalty.

In all seriousness, we probably don't beat North Dakota anyway, but we definitely can't beat NDak AND the refs. It was a pretty one sided officiating crew. I mean you miss a blatant call that would go against NDak and less than a minute later they call Michigan on a weak penalty.
Again, we were dominated in puck possession and shots, but the officiating made it too much to overcome.

Sometimes you just gotta tell the guy who kicked your ass "good game." When 5-on-5's look like the other team has a power play, you know you're in for a long night. It was still a decent year.

Were we watching the same game? With the exception of the last 7ish minutes of the 3rd period, I thought Michigan was clearly the better team.

No way.
NoDak was taking it to Michigan the whole game. "Clearly the better team" doesn't get outshot 24-8 in the first period and 49-27 overall.

However, what I am left with, because of all the talent we have, is that we were also out coached. I wish I knew more about hockey plays and such so I could evaluate what UND was doing to make it look like we were playing with one less player for much of the game.

Eh, I was at the game and Michigan was not the better team. Defense was not great and ND controlled the game from the get-go. Michigan looked OK in the 2nd but the turnover w/ less than a minute to go leading to a goal was just shit. Michigan had some great oppportunities and just couldn't cash in. Just wasn't our day and got beat by a better team.
You thought wrong.
How many beers? NoDak was absolutely dominant in the first then it was more or less a draw for the rest of the game (even including the last 1/6th where NoDak put it away).

I believe I said "I don't think Michigan beats North Dakota either way. We were dominated in shots and puck possession." So I awknowledge do everything you said. They were better and they outplayed us. But the officiating was terrible and we were legitimately screwed out of 2, maybe 3 powerplays.

Officiating for both of UM's tournament games was rather poor.

Officiating for College Hockey as a whole is generally poor.

Is weak sauce cheap shit poor.
In all my time watching Michigan sports--there is ONE game (and I go back to about 1972) that really, fairly obviously was so poorly reffed it could be said to have had a real effect on at least the style of play if not the outcome.
The title game against Louisville in '13. THAT was as poorly refereed a game as I've ever seen and it really affected Michigan's ability to do their thing.
But seriously, this blog has turned into a bunch of bitching about referees, other teams' paying every player Michigan doesn't get, and hating the media.
Yep, if this blog represents Michigan graduates, as many here pretend to be--wow, is Michigan a university that is turning out some seriously flawed people.
Again, hope Brian Cook is proud of his sissy points and what this place has turned into. An echo chamber of fanboy hate.

I was so pissed we gave up a late goal, but that shoulder check gave me a few seconds of laughter. I liked the look they gave each other afterwards.
I've reffed some kids soccer games where this has happened. Usually there is a second of "OMG are you okay?" then there is laughter from both teams.

I would agree.
