Redundant threads/Polling station

Submitted by wlvrine on
This problem is getting out of hand. Most everyone knows what I am talking about: Threads that ask the same tired questions over and over again. Like: How many wins will we get this year? Or: Will Devin Gardner start as a true freshman? It is now only February and the frequency of these threads will only increase the closer we get to September. We need to stop the madness. We do not need another discussion. We need a poll. A place where every joe-six-pack with an opinion about who will start at quarterback, can make their voice heard without bogging down the best message board in the universe. I doubt this will put an end to the problem completely. But if it stops even one more thread from being created about how many wins it will take for R.Rodriguez to keep his job, then it will have been worth it.

This should be stickied until the start of spring practice. There is nothing to say that hasn't been said already on all these topics.

All of the above until its beaten into the ground. As I've asked before: What are we supposed to do? Work? I don't know about you, but I prefer to discuss beer, Michigan football, taking polls on Michigan Football, hot hicks, more football - even non-Michigan football if necessary, reliving my days at Michigan, beer, Michigan football and beer. Edit: Every damn game + BCS Title.

This post deserves praise. The same tired questions have been asked over and over again ad nauseam. It seems every week someone shows up to ask. Not only do such threads lack research, but more so they lack purpose. Lets end them once and for all with a few polls and let it be until September. Also, add to the list dead horse beating questions constantly asked: "What are the chances we land Lawrence Thomas?" The answer to which is NO CHANCE! NONE, STOP ASKING!

you could clear your cookies and vote again and again. Then just vote for every number between 4 and 11. If not, I will except your post as a write in vote for (between 4 and 11) The only real problem is when it gets down to the Electoral College...

The other thing that is getting out of hand is posters ripping people for not going back 4 or 5 pages before they ask questions. How many posts do you see that start with "I apologize for not having all day to research this sight to see if someone else asked my question in the last two weeks but..." We're all bored during the off-season, give a guy a break if he asks a repeat question. If the title of the post is repetitive, don't click on the damn post! Especially with the amount of drinking while reading that goes on here, it seems we would all be a little more forgiving. Bastards! Where's my beer?!

Sorry, but I find "redundant threads" to be the most redundant thread on mgoblog. If you want to see how relevant a thread is here, look at the number of replies. If a lot of people reply, there is obviously still interest in the thread. If not, then the thread is becoming redundant. For example, when a recruiting thread has 67 replies, recruiting questions obviously aren't redundant yet. If a thread doesn't interest me, I don't click on it. If other people find joy in discussing it, great. Most of the posters here are intelligent and all have their own interests and priorities; maybe we should trust everyone's individual judgement. If there are one or two posters who repeat the same thing over and over, they usually get negged into oblivion. In other words, no changes are neccessary; the system works just fine the way it is now. Besides, basketball and hockey are having off years, baseball hasn't quite started yet, spring football is a couple of months off, and you are all trying to avoid snowbanks up there. What the bleep else is there to talk about?

When's the spring game? When do spring practices start? Who redshirted? Who are the preferred walk ons? Are we gonna do an MGoBlog tailgate? Is it OK if I like the smell of my own farts? And 50 hundred grillion smerdillion "Look at what the Freep is doing now!"

Well done. Of course, once this page moves to the third page of the MGoBoard, it will be forgotten and the cycle will commence anew. But thank you for continuing to fight the good fight.

"What is the spring Game?" Um.... it is the game that happens in the spring. Next up on the agenda, What is the Big Ten basketball tournament? Or maybe, what is life, what does it all mean? "What is this war in the middle of nature?" And the director was.....?
